Reviews for Madison Hotel Memphis
What was once a lovely hotel seems to be faced with financial woes and declining quickly.... - $$$: Overcharged for our first round of drinks at the rooftop bar $50 for two drinks... - Noise: 15minutes of garbage trucks echoing through the alley between 3 and 5am everyday but Sunday. Ask for a high floor and not in the alley. Unfortuntaely we were told all King Suites are in the back alley. - Restaurant in disaray, staff told us that management was intentionally not replenishing until the next budget cycle, no $ available: Day 1: Dishwasher was broken, Day 2: Waffle maker was broken, Day 3: No sausage, Day 4: No bagels. Not only were these things unavailable. They waited for 30 - 40 minutes after we ordered to let us know. - Dirty Rooms: Mold in shower and amenities such as lotion and soap were used and empty. They were not replenished by hospitality until we called down and made the request, multiple times. - Dirty Hallways: On two different occasions, room service trays with food were left sitting in the hall for more than 12 hours, and still there even after the hospitality staff was cleaning rooms on the floor. - When we departed, the bellman, was sitting on his cell phone on the couch in the lobby. - Staff: While there were a few friendly ladies working in the restaurant in the am, generally we were not impressed. Turns out the general manager also recently departed. We were told there was no management available over the weekend. We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, and made multiple attempts to communicate our dissatisfaction. I will never stay at this hotel again, and will be writing a letter to the corporate office. The only reason we didnt check out and move to another hotel was because the city was sold out. My recommendation, don't stay here by choice. Buyer beware.

This review is about giving kudos to Madeline and her housekeeping staff. 2 weeks after checking out of my very nice suite, I discovered that I had left a pouch of jewelry in the room safe. I immediately called to inquire but was told nothing had been found, and of course the room had been occupied since my stay. My husband gave detailed information to executive housekeeper, Madeline, whom decided to send someone to double check ONE more time with explicit instructions on where to check. My pouch was found. Thank you Madeline for your persistence and wisdom, and to your staff for honest character.

This was my first trip to Memphis. I booked this hotel and knew it was an older hotel, but my expectations were blown out of the water. Instead of a "Dated" hotel with dated furnishings, it was quite the opposite. Inside was beautiful modern décor. My room was extremely modern with every amenity covered. It has a stereo with docking station, rain shower head and a large T.V.. The room and hotel were clean and roomy. The staff were all very friendly and I was asked several times when leaving and arriving if everything was O.K.. Check in and check out were seamless and quick. Doormen always opened the doors for us. Location was great in the downtown core and walking distance to the Blue Plate Diner and Beale Street. All in all a great stay.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Madison last week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The doormen and front desk provided wonderful service. Our room on the 14th floor had city and river views. The location of the Madison is excellent--we walked everywhere--to the Pyramid, to the outstanding Civil Rights museum, Beale St etc. The rooms are quiet and having the restaurant Eighty3 right there was a plus. My wife said their gumbo was the best she has tasted! We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Madison to our friends and family.
