We had a fantastic experience at this hotel. The woman at the front desk (I believe her name is Ida) was extremely friendly and even upgraded our room twice to ensure we had a memorable stay! Anyone staying must check out the roomtop deck to see amazing views of downtown. I would suggest the Madison to anyone staying in the downtown Memphis area!

We chose the Madison primarily for it's location. It provided a good downtown hotel experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast, provided for guests staying two or more nights, was also a nice treat. The roof top bar was a pleasant place to relax. On the other hand, it is not an inexpensive place to stay. We stayed two nights and spent almost $600 including parking and a few drinks at the roof top bar. A highlight was that we never used our car once we arrived.

Facilities are very nice. Front desk has a problem and you must write down whom you speak to when making a request. Examples: Called for my car to be brought to the front, waited in front for 15 minutes--no car. Went to front desk to inquire and they had no record of my calling--"Who did you speak to?" Came back in the evening and room had not been made up yet. Called front desk and was told someone would be up shortly. Waited 45 minutes--nothing. Called front desk again and they said they had no record of my earlier call--"Who did you speak to?" To catch the ghost at the front desk you must always record the name of the person you first spoke to.

Great front desk staff, valet/bell staff and restaurant staff. The hotel is an older building (e.g., high 10-12 foot ceilings) which for the most part has been decorated well. The sofa bed was really flawed, however; otherwise I'd give our stay and enjoyment a 5 stars. Really enjoyed being close to Riverside Drive, Main Street and downtown.

Stayed here for my 5th wedding anniversary. The hardwood floor was bubbling up, the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable, and the shower was extremely mildewed. We are extremely disappointed as we expected a much better experience when we paid such a high price for the room.
