Overwhelming your staff was great. My only complaint, I witnessed the rooftop bartender shame multiple guests into tipping him. Although tipping is customary and appropriate, ihid behavior seemed classless

We really wanted to love this hotel. It's beautiful and has a super location, easy walking distance to most of the sites on our list. We walked to the Lorraine Motel-National Civil Rights Museum (1.5 mi), Beale Street, the Bass Pro Shop pyramid, even Slave Haven-Burkle Estate (1.7 mi). The lobby is lovely, check-in was easy. The bed was comfortable, great pillows. Small room but definitely adequate. The rooftop bar has a great sunset view, plus reasonably priced drinks and small bites. The chef even agreed to make a special dish (crab sliders) when I said I didn't eat meat. But there were a few misses along the way. We requested a 2nd luggage rack as soon as we checked in, but it never appeared. The bathroom had only one bath towel (a 2nd arrived later in the day when we asked). Only one bar of soap. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash weren't replenished after the first night (not a big deal but we did use every drop of the body wash since we only had one bar of soap). Coffee wasn't replaced either, and no cream, sugar or stirrers provided until we asked for those. It took a very long time to get the car from the valet parking (which cost $29/night), even longer to get a bellman on checkout (turns out the same person retrieved the car and the bags). Service was friendly (with the exception of the attendant at checkout, perhaps it was just too early in the morning for her). We had a great rate, and were glad we stayed at the Madison. Despite the little problems, we recommend it.

We are actually from Memphis but had never stayed at the Madison before so we stayed for our anniversary. Our room was clean & very comfortable - nice furniture in sitting room, comfy bed, great pillows, high-pressured shower, good A/C (all deal breakers for me). However, the general maintenance work in the room was shoddy. There were patches in the wall that looked like I had done them & there was a hole in the bathroom ceiling. For such an expensive, nice hotel, this was disappointing & I would hate for out-of-owners to experience this. The staff was very nice & responded very quickly when we had to call to report loud music next door at midnight. The rooftop bar is AWESOME & the eighty3 restaurant was good, although not somewhere I would frequent as a local & I would tell others to visit other higher-quality restaurants downtown. Overall good but needs some improvement considering the price.

Hotel met most of the positive reviews I read prior to booking. The positives we experienced were the friendly bartenders & servers, the rooftop "twilight" terrace view was unreal, the atmosphere & views are a MUST for all to experience. The food at restaurant(eighty3) was also a huge plus the presentation was impressive along with the taste. The location was in perfect walking distance for most attractions. The negatives were, our room was not available upon arrival after driving 6 hours which we were told the false advertisement of having a pool when we booked our reservation, there is no pool... the valet parking only at 30.00 daily is ridiculous, which the staff member told us upon arrival was the only available parking, when across street is 6.00 daily. The rooms are not immaculate ( i.e. Stains on bedding, hair in bathroom on floor & tub) so if your picky not the place for you. Overall we had a pleasant stay & would recommend for short trip to Memphis
