Reviews for Madison Hotel Memphis
This was no doubt one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had: First and foremost, this was thanks to the incredibly friendly and dedicated staff. Every time we met an employee, he or she inquired about our experience and satisfaction. And they upgraded us for free! Our room was spacious and elegant, even with a minor view on the river. A real gem is the Twilight Sky Terrace with a sensational view. Breakfast was also tasty (did not dine there in the evening due to the countless alternatives in the vicinity). The location is great to walk to many sites (Beale street, Mud island, Sun Studio, Civil rights museum, etc.), only downside is the rather expensive valet parking. However, it is quite convenient. If that bothers you, there are public parking spaces nearby which are cheaper. Overall a great hotel, which is not cheap, but delivers for the price you pay. Highly recommended!
My fiance and I stayed at the Madison this past weekend for a wedding and had a TERRIBLE experience. It started when we arrived...we valeted our car and went to check in at which time we were informed our room was not yet ready for us. We had arrived AFTER check-in time (roughly 3:30pm, check-in is advertised at 3PM) and were told that the room had not been cleaned as of yet, but that the front desk staff would contact us when we would be able to access the room. So we walked around rainy Memphis for an hour at which time we called the hotel to check in on the status of the room. They told us that the room was STILL not ready and that they were unable to give us an estimated time as to when it would be. Cold and wet, we were forced to camp out in the lobby of the hotel, hoping to inspire them to hurry as we the wedding we had travelled to Memphis for was at 7PM. There was never any offer of a discount on our room for our wait and general inconvenience, no manager was available to speak with, or even a firm idea as to when the room would be ready. Finally, after nearly an hour and multiple conversations with the front desk staff, they gave us another guests' room as they had yet to check-in (why this hadn't been presented as an option hours before, I am unsure). Once we entered the room, it was immediately evident that the room we had been given was outfitted with a full bed and not the queen bed we had paid for (we sleep on a queen every night at home and the size difference was immediately noticeable). Next, as we settled into the room to get ready, we opened the bedside table looking for the hotel information booklet (of which there was none) and found a box of condoms. After waiting almost 3 hours AFTER check out time due to the cleaning staff, one would expected for the room to be pristine. In fact, I would say fairly confidently that if you look in the drawer of room 608, those condoms would still be in the bedside table. We rushed to get ready for our wedding and ended up late to the ceremony. The next morning, after everything that had happened, the cleaning staff had the audacity to knock on our door to clean the room at 9AM! I was disgusted with the service, lack of accomodation and general disregard for us as guest. I would NEVER stay or recommend this hotel to anyone. I'm shocked this room has a four star rating and is considered to be the #8 hotel in Memphis. I would love to be contacted be management to discuss our stay.

We arrived at the Hotel for a Weekend Wedding at 5:45pm, our room wasn't ready. Nor was the couples room in line with us. From our weekend stay it was obvious that they are short staffed. Our next to the last night our room wasn't made up but after we brought it to their attention it was done while we were out to dinner. The hotel is allowing little things to decline. The door made noise when you opened it, the room has crumbs on the floor when we checked in, there were stains on the wall, little things but they add up. if they start watching the little things it will make for a really nice place downtown.

When we checked into the hotel an hour and a half after normal check in time, our room was not ready. This was super stressful and upsetting because 1) it was past the check in time and 2) we had to go to a rehearsal dinner. After arguing with the front desk staff, they finally let us get ready in another room, but then we had to bring our bags back downstairs and recheck in after the evening. We didn't even get offered anything so I asked about that and they gave us 2 free drinks from the bar... Other than this awful and stressful experience, the hotel was fine. It was clean and rooms were decent sized.
