Reviews for Madison Hotel Memphis
We had a great stay at Madison Hotel. When we checked in, we found out that we had been upgraded to the junior suite--SWEET! We loved our room, very spacious and a great bathroom---loved the shower! It was a perfect location for a night on the town, including easy walking distance to Beale Street! We ended the night up on the roof with a great view of Memphis at night, and a nightcap! Would definitely stay here the next time I'm in town.

Upon arrival we had very friendly staff greet us and check us in. When we got to the room (deluxe king) the room was hot. Call down to the front desk and they immediately sent maintenance up. He quickly changed our room for us. I was pleasantly surprised how accommodating they were. We were able to walk to Beale st. (10min) and the civil rights museum (15 min) from the hotel. Would def stay here again.
Everything you need under one roof. Can't say I've ever been treated better by all staff across the board. I will always stay here when I come to Memphis. The hotel goes above and beyond. Clean and up to date!
To be honest my stay was not what I was expecting. I had problems with my reservation from the beginning. I called several times to have it fixed and was finally resolved with in a few days of arrival. The day of arrival the receptionist was very polite. We booked a king suite for the night, received our key and went to the room. The room was not very clean when we arrived. The floor looked like it was not cleaned and the shower had some blue gel dripped down the wall where the handle for the faucet was. I called prior to booking about the jetted bath tub and asked could 2 people fit comfortably in it and was told yes. Unfortunately that was not true. You probably could fit 2 people, on top of each other. After we departed I called on Monday because I was charged an extra $100 and was curious. I was informed it was for incidentals and it will be refunded. Which was fine but your employee was very rude about it and acted as if I was a bother to her. After all of that there was also and issue with my account after that. The location of your hotel was very nice but I think we want be returning to the Madison.
Okay, truth be told I really wanted to like this place. So first, the good stuff. The location is great. In the middle of all the good stuff, easy walk to Beale Street, The Peabody, Gibson Guitars, restaurants galore, etc. Also, the architecture of the building is neat, there is a lot of history, and the rooftop bar is just amazing at sunset. But now the not so good stuff. When I got there, they had my correct name and credit card number, but nothing else in their system was correct. That may not seem like much, but they said they had been trying to call me about a room upgrade but that I did not return their call. I asked what phone number they tried. Folks, it wasn't even close. I mean, if they had been off by a digit or two, or maybe ended my phone number in 98 rather than 89, okay, I would get that. But the number wasn't even in the right state let alone area code. So we got that fixed and all was well. But then, when I checked out, the invoice looked correct in terms of costs for my two nights, but the address for me on the invoice was in Florida. And I am in Texas. A couple more things to keep in mind. There is NO air conditioning in the hotel hallways or elevators. And keep in mind, I was there the middle of July. So think really hot and really humid! Then in my room, which was nice and spacious, the windows do NOT HAVE BLACKOUT CURTAINS!!! So if you like getting up at the crack of dawn, this is your place. If you want to sleep till 8, forget it. When I checked out I asked about blackout curtains and was told that I would have needed to ask for them when I booked the room. Now I have stayed in hundreds of hotels all over the world and NEVER have I been told I had to ask for curtains. Anyway, I will probably give these guys another try in the fall when it is cooler and will ask for blackout curtains in advance. But if they mess things up again, I will look elsewhere.
