I can see the potential for next year. Under refurbishment, they've reduced staff and I expect that with expanded staff things will improve. The building and art deco style is cool. The contractors were pretty quiet. The restaurant and bar are closed. House keeping didn't come thru until mid/late afternoon so put the "do not disturb" sign out as would have been an interference with plans.

I stayed one night and although the staff was helpful, I wasnt notified that the restaurant was closed due to renovations. I didnt hear any noise because was there Sunday-Monday. The room was beautiful and clean however.

This is our third stay at The Madison Hotel. Yes, they are under renovation, but we never heard any noise! Also, the website stated the restaurant and Twilight Bar were closed, and the staff informed us upon check-in and offered us menus of places that delivered. Our newly renovated room was very nice and we had a view of the river. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Every time we passed through the lobby someone at the desk said hello and most remembered our name! It is more expensive, but you get the luxury of not being too near all of the noise and craziness that is Beale Street. It's an easy walk to everything we wanted to see.

The rooms we had, yes rooms, we moved because there was a bath leak, were lovely. Very comfortable and recently renovated. There were renovations going on in the hotel, however this did not disturb us, other than sharing the lift with tradesmen. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from downtown, we always walked together and ensured we walked on the main streets. My main concerns are the reception staff, they still have $1200 of our money that we can't use even though we checked out 2 weeks ago. They assure us in 10 business days it will be returned. I have found each time I've spoken to the reception staff, even when we were staying at the hotel, that they were condesending and rude. The photographs do not match reality. The upstairs outdoor area is in total ruin. There is no way you could use it at all. The advertised restaurant is not in use at all. I would go elsewhere.

We just arrived home from a week in Tennessee having spent 2 nights at the Madison. It came highly recommended, but it is in the middle of a renovation. Boxes are all over the lobby, the roof top bar is closed (you can go up but the furniture has no cushions) and all bars and restaurants are being remodeled. Having said that the staff was very helpful and friendly . There is a great restaurant called Flight down the block. Rooms are very small and towels could be a bit more plush for the room rate and rating. Memphis was disappointing because it seems to be a city that is aging and slowly dying the opposite of Nashville. The Madison is just a example of the aging and areas around hotel was full of vacant store fronts
