My friends and I stayed at the Rosewood this Summer for a "staycation" and couldn't have asked for a better time! From the moment we arrived, all of our needs were met and any requests we had prior to our arrival were thoughtfully met. The rooms are large, clean and beautiful. The pool area was fun and relaxing -- we truly felt like we were on vacation at a tropical resort. The food and drinks throughout our stay were wonderful. Madera is an amazing restaurant! We also enjoyed the talented violinist at the outdoor bar area, which was pleasant surprise for a Sunday night! If you are looking for a local Bay Area "staycation", the Rosewood Menlo Park is the perfect spot!

Basically had to fend for ourselves at the pool. No one brought water refills after I asked twice, and it took over 25 minutes to get our drinks. When I asked for a spoon, I actually took the time to see how long it would take, yet it NEVER CAME. What's going on here!? Usually reliable, and tbh pool service isn't fine dining. Basically just asking for someone to bring what we requested and are paying for, which seemed beyond the grasp of the employees here.

We purchased a breakfast included package--but no one mentioned to us that this applied only until 10:30, despite brunch being served until 2:30. We were told no refunds or applications of our credit to brunch were possible. Ridiculous at a supposedlu high-end place like the Rosewood.

We booked a two night staycation with five other families here at rosewood. At first we booked king rooms but realized we needed to switch so called and they confirmed we were switched to two queen rooms and also booked all of us in the same cottage. I called a week before to double check and apparently they didn't actually switch our rooms and didn't put us in the same cottage so I spent an hour on the phone with a manager who said there were only two queen rooms left so our only choice was to not have a place for kids to sleep or pay to upgrade to suites which was very frustrating since we all booked our reservations well in advance.. but some of us took the queens and others paid the upgrade. For the inconvenience she offered us early checkin and said it will for sure be ready early afternoon but she's requesting a 10am checkin but if it's not ready we can go hang out at the pool. We got there at about 1pm and our room wasn't ready and the receptionist said sorry you can't go to the pool until room is ready. We had a bunch of small children already in swimsuits and they said they had no idea when a room would be ready. We argued with them for a while before they found the notes that said we were given early checkin and pool access starting at 10am. Every hour I called checking to see if our room was ready yet letting them know I had kids medication and food that needed to be refrigerated asap but they just kept saying sorry well let you know. We didn't get a room until 5pm! That's two hours after the official checkin! It was over 100 degrees outside so all the kids medication and food had to be thrown out.. I had to have our babysitter run to our house to get more. I let the manager know how upset I was that $300 worth of medication had to be thrown out and that's she offered to store it for us.. yet I called five times before that and it was not offered until it was too late. Our room was supposed to have a fridge in it too and I had to call several times and wait two hours before it actually got delivered. Moving on... the next day we were coming back from the pool and there was broken glass all over the stair and hall to the cottage. I stepped on a piece and have a huge open cut on my foot thank god it was not one of my small children. I told a nearby cleaning person and hours later the glass was still there! The cleaning people didn't clean our room until after 5pm! We got home to shower and head out to dinner only to realize we couldn't go in because they just started cleaning it which made us late to our reservation. They also left a bunch of dirty sheets, towels, and garbage outside the room overnight! The service at the pool was awful.. they kept forgetting our drinks and food, we were sitting at the tables but our food got delivered to someone's pool chair and sat there for 40 minutes in the heat and when I complained about our food still not being here they tracked it down and handed it to us.. everything was cold and soggy and who knows who could have touched it! There were two very large completely unattended dogs walking around the pool deck. We had a group of kids eating ice cream and drinking juice and the dog ran up to try to get one of their bowls and not only freaked out the little kids but also knocked over a whole table of ice cream and juice.. staff did nothing to help the kids or even clean up or replace the food/drinks. Overall I would absolutely not recommend staying here.. the service was awful.. we also did not get to stay in the same cottage as promised so all of our babysitter arrangements did not end up working out, it was such a frustrating trip.

Beautiful hotel with amazing service. The pool is lovely - only drawback is that there aren't more facilities within the complex. But I suppose California is on your doorstep and you can easily spend hours hiking/ biking around the area.
