First class experience at Rosewood SandHill

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

In Palo Alto for business and stayed 2 nights at Rosewood SandHill. Perfect location, service was first class and had wonderful dinner at Madera. Used the gym / spa in the am and was able to use hotel car to go to my meetings. Only place I will stay in that area.

Disappointing in so many ways

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

I come to Palo Alto often but for business usually stay at the Four Seasons. On a personal trip, we tried the Rosewood as it does have a good location, and we were terribly disappointed. We were really looking forward to the restaurant but lunch was inedible so we made dinner plans elsewhere. Concierge told us the wrong tee time at the Stanford golf course. Massage appointment was confirmed by email but was not actually on the schedule. Pool/hotbub are under maintenance but that was not at all clear when booking. Shower was tepid because knob appeared to be stripped. Entire physical structure looks like a 70s apartment complex. Will definitely return to the Four Seasons next time.

Serious insect problems, pool under construction, construction noise disturbing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

I am leaving this review after my second time staying at Rosewood in jan 26 2024, and although I normally never leave reviews at these sites, I feel obligated to leave one as i was extremely disappointed with my stay. First time I stayed at rosewood was several yrs ago and although the rooms were not memorable, the facility was clean and service was satisfactory. This time, I stayed for 3 nights as a family vacation. When i was booking my room online, i was not notified that the pool was under construction. When I checked in, I was only notified then. When we were at lunch at Madera, the only restaurant at the hotel, the construction noise was quite disturbing. Adding on to that, starting from the 2nd day, there was a trail of ants in the bathroom, hundreds of ants coming out of the wall between the cracks. The housekeeping engineer came and said that the hotel ground has been under pest control and because of that the ants are looking for other routes out. He closed some open holes with silicone to stop the ants from entering the room. But we still had ants all over the bathroom 2nd,3rd day, we called housekeeping again several times only to address the issue temporarily and tell us that " the ants don't bite." I was extremely disappointed by the way the hotel staff addressed the issue. On top of that, we had cockroaches in the bathroom, that we also asked housekeeping to help us get rid of. I had stayed at mountain view Hyatt ( 3 star) before moving to rosewood (5 star) and although I moved with high expectations, I don't see myself returning to rosewood. If anything there are tons of business hotels in the neighborhood, and if I wanted to stay at a business hotel I would recommend going somewhere else, since the experience obviously didn't match the price. I hope this review finds anyone helpful.

Can't wait to return!

We loved this hotel from arrival! The front desk are friendly and welcoming and the property is beautiful and immaculate. The rooms are comfy and spacious and we really had a great, restful trip. Having stayed in many hotels in the area for previous business trips this one is a cut above. We were lucky to have incredible weather and were able to enjoy the pool for the whole weekend. The loungers are luxurious and spacious and the service was outstanding and attentive. The pool is warm and spotless. The food and drink are priced as expected for a Rosewood but are high quality using local and seasonal ingredients. The cars are a fab perk for guests and were really fun. Our kids absolutely loved it and can't wait to return. Huge thank you to Christian who is by far the most lovely hotel manager I have ever met for making our stay so memorable!

High Price, not worth the cost

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

We decided to stay there and dine at Medure for New Years Eve. There were three of us, and it cost close to $1000 for dinner and another $1000 for the room with fees applied. I would expect great food but disappointed very much so. The employees were wonderful always friendly and attentive but the food needs serious attention. New Years Eve dinner had a price fix of $225. This included a very small oyster, some sort of tuna tartar paddy, and choice of filet, fish and vegetarian. Baked Alaska desert. The steak was good but the appetizer was not, and the "Baked Alaska" had a frozen inside with the meringue top had a flame applied. Not a glass of champagne included. Room service was also pretty bad. We ordered pot of coffee, bagel with salmon and cream cheese. The coffe was watered down, and the bagel was cold . They forgot the salmon, Not sure what else to say, other than wasted money. We told them we had a birthday so they took away one desert and added a very small sweet of i'm not sure what. I don't usually go to this extent to write bad reviews but this was very costly and not worth it.
