About the Hotel

Yucatan is a historically rich region of Mexico, home to the ancient Mayan culture. In the downtown historic center, you can visit the city cathedral, an impressive 16th century construction or you can go to interesting museums, such as the Yucatan Museum of Archaeology. You can also take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage down the city`s main avenue, Paseo Montejo, which is lined with 19th century mansions and the Hyatt Regency Merida hotel. It`s a pleasant tour blending historic sights with the new world.

I went to Merida for various reasons, business, pleasure and shopping I would say, every time I stayed there t have to recognize the magnificent service that I received from the staff, they recognized me by my name and this is hard when they are dealing with several guests, the hotel is nice always smell pretty good, when I stayed there always go to the regency club and Rafael he is in charge of the service there always takes care of my my needs , he is really attentive I really appreciate it.

Average Stay and Below Hyatt Standards

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Conveniently located hotel in a great area of Merida, just steps away from the popular Paseo de Montejo boulevard with lots of shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is quite dated and is in need of a renovation. The rooms felt cold and utilitarian. The bathroom was tiny. The pool area was unattractive and I didn't use this amenity at all. The gym was also well below average and not up to Hyatt's standards. I had access to the Club Lounge which was nice and provided a good breakfast and also evening appetizers. This was the highlight of my stay. Most likely would pass on this hotel in the future, unless they renovate.

Clean and staff is friendly

Looks nice. I just wish they had English speaking channel options because when I was in my room, I wanted to watch tv and was told to watch on Chrome tv and I couldn’t get it to work… the only problem I had. Oh my room did not have a tub, so pay attention to that.

Beautiful city - Poor Hotel stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Firstly Merida is a great place to visit and lots to discover and as a city we loved it. However, as my first time staying n a Hyatt Regency hotel and I was very disappointed. The rooms, although large have no character and are soulless. The mini bar had not a mini anything inside, it was empty and the coffee perculator, which offers free coffee, had no coffee pot although tea bags and nescafe were available. The bathroom was crampled and not designed well, with the toilet facing the front of the sink. The club lounge was not worth the additional price we paid as the food was of poor quality and the environment felt like a sterile hospital cafe and not at all like the type of club lounges I have used at other hotels and would expected higher quality from the Hyatt. Staff were polite but not engaging all heads down at all times, whilst they tapped away on their computers looking ever so NOT busy. Location: too far from down town Merida, if you are on business this is a good hotel but if you are vacationing make sure you stay in a hotel closer to Merida center. The bus tour is cheap but but not at all interesting. A spainish/english speaking guide who looked exghausted, and we felt could not be bothered to explain anything and spent most of his time saying nothing. Not worth the hour and a half of our time when we could have been doing something far more interesting as Merida is full of history and some great places to eat. Casa Maya and Salon Merida were excellent and highly recommended. Lots of activity in Merida and it really is a beautiful town. Everyone is so friendly and if you need help or directions the police so helpful and friendly and will escort you so you dont get lost. Lots of intersting things to buy and great indoor craft markets. You need to be prepared to haggle if you really want to buy something but its all part of being in Mexico and most vendors will start high but then accept what you are prepared to pay. Overall a great trip to Merida and a great starting point if you want to visit Chitzen Itza and other temples.

Three stars for the facility but four stars for the staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Three stars for the facility but four stars for the staff. Efren at the front desk set the tone with his friendliness and helpfulness. Our room was spartan and a bit worn around the edges but large, although the bathroom was snug. The internal and external soundproofing are minimal, but the hotel and surrounding area were quiet at night. There is a very basic breakfast included with club rooms, but the breakfast buffet, which is not too expensive with the club discount, was outstanding.
