Presidential Disappointment

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I stayed 5 nights in the Presidential Suite. It was expensive, but huge, and good value for the money (roughly $1,000/per night for 2,000+ square feet). I got tired walking from one end to the other. Hotel is well-located in terms of the city's major attractions, with some walkable and most a relatively short Uber ride away (though the city's traffic is pretty awful). But aside from housekeeping, the service was really terrible: The concierge showed zero interest in helping me with an important and (I thought) pretty basic ticket/tour request. The Presidential Suite had some issues (broken safe, complicated shower system, a coffee maker I couldn't figure out) that the hotel never responded to in my 5-night stay. The broken safe was especially annoying because i know it was actually broken, not a result of my not being able to figure it out (it was the standard safe used in every hotel around the world). Security was lax--they gave a guest of mine a key without telling me, and gave me a key without checking my ID. Food at the main lobby restaurant was OK, at best. There is major construction going on along the parkside of the hotel. I travel with sophisticated noise-blocking equipment, so it never really bothered me, but I heard lots of other guests complaining. The hotel should soundproof its windows, construction or not.

Excellent Service!

The hotel is lovely, in a great part of town but it's the service that really shines! Get a room on the 40th floor - walk out for breakfast, dinner & meeting rooms - so convenient! There's a great gym, indoor pool, sauna & steam rooms too. But the wait staff are amazing - so helpful & so friendly - made working there very comfortable, thank you!

Great Hotel

Very beautiful hotel in a posh neighbourhood. Starbucks across the street. Many restaurants. The service was amazing and hotel rooms nice.

Great in context.

Some tips Odd numbered rooms have sunset views, even numbers overlook the park and sunrise. Take the hotel in context, this is a large corporate focused 4* hotel but with that comes a pretty amazing gym, an indoor pool and a suntan deck. The sushi restaurant on the ground floor is great, well above expectations The staff were great, everywhere exceeding expectations from wait staff in the club to doormen proactively rushing to open side doors for a stroller. Some older review mentioned poor staff, this is no longer the case. As an example, our room was ready early, with the rollaway in place and the doorman had already placed bags in our room before coming up to inform us in person in the club. This is beyond the service I expect in a busy 600 hotel. I believe rooms on some floors 18 and below are still being renovated. The hotel is 43 floors, 2&3 for conferences and gym / spa / pool on 4.

low quality vs price

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

- bathrobes and towels - noise due to building next to the hotel under construction, - coffee missing
