A luxe experience that rivals nearby hotels for far fewer pesos.

Selecting a hotel in Mexico City is daunting. We chose the Marquis Reforma as the adjacent hotels (St. Regis, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton) suggested an upscale neighborhood but the Marquis Reforma was available for a fraction of the price of those luxury properties. We were not disappointed. Certainly the ambiance of the public spaces was worthy of a 4.5-5 star hotel. More importantly, we were delighted with our room, including a surprise upgrade to a suite for our eight-day stay. The room included a very comfortable king bed, abundant closet space, a separate spacious sitting area with a sofa bed, ottoman, desk and chair, and a well equipped bath with plenty of countertop storage. The room was immaculate (okay, I found a two-week old receipt behind a nightstand) and was in excellent if not perfect repair (the AC blower was somewhat loud). The room was nearly silent with only trace street noise in the late evening so sleep quality was excellent. The breakfast buffet was included in our rate package and was comprehensive, but there was room for improvement. The hot buffet included many tasty Mexican specialties and usually—but not always—an egg dish; however we learned by observation that omelets were available by order. A variety of dry cereals were available but bran cereal was available only twice during our seven-day stay. Labeling was poor. There were six unlabeled juices; we thought we learned the position of the orange juice and similar-appearing mango juice until someone reversed them. I assume that one of the two milk dispensers contained low-fat milk but it was a mystery as to which one. Coffee and tea were served by the usually-overworked wait staff; it was a challenge to get a second cup of coffee, let alone a third. The service problems in the restaurant were particularly acute during the first three days of our stay when a convention resulted in the restaurant being packed; the restaurant simply didn’t have the capacity (tables, staff) to handle the demand. But one weekend day, the usual breakfast space was closed and the breakfast was moved to another restaurant in the hotel. That breakfast was delightful (excellent service, labeled juices) which emphasized what was missing at the usual breakfast venue. The concierge provided helpful advice. The gym (open from 6 AM) was huge with multiple state-of-the-art treadmills; however, wipes to clean the equipment after use were missing 4/7 days. Annoyances were few. The in room safe was spacious but was completely unanchored: there was nothing to keep a thief from picking it up and carrying it out of the room under their arm. There was a charge for use of the in-room coffee maker and no kettle for the making of tea. Despite the irregular service at breakfast, this hotel offers (almost) all of the comfort and convenience of the nearby luxury hotels at less than half the price. Were I to return to Mexico City, I’d clearly return to the Marquis Reforma Hotel.

Exceptional Service - Jose and Sadot

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

At the end of April 24th, my stay at the Marquis Reforma Hotel was nothing short of exceptional, largely due to the outstanding service provided by Jose and Sadot. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality truly enhanced my experience. The hotel itself exudes luxury and comfort, making it an ideal choice for travelers seeking a top-notch accommodation in Mexico City. I highly recommend it, especially for those who value exceptional service.

Beautiful hotel with amazing service!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Recently stayed at this hotel for only 2 nights and we had amazing service! From walking into the hotel the bellman took our luggage, check in was easy, getting to our room the bellman explained to us how to use everything in our room and asked if we were gonna use the sofa bed (we did) and they came in 5 minutes to set up the bed. They also clean your room daily which to me is amazing because who doesn’t want to come to a clean room? We asked them for a driver to take us to “Basilica of our lady of Guadalupe”, they also asked if we needed them to wait or just drop us off. Staff was nice and attentive! Only thing was I never found their “gift shop” that had toiletries? TMI I unexpectedly needed (female monthly products) but I called front desk and they went to the store for me and got everything I needed in 10 minutes. To me this hotel is worth it! Will definitely come back!!
