Reviews for The Angler's Hotel

Short break in Miami.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Overall, I would recommend this hotel. It is in a good location, only a short walk from Ocean Drive. The room was a good size with a balcony. I didn't use the pool, although my friend did. She had a refreshing swim. However, she did comment that there was loud music playing from a speaker next to the pool, so it wasn't conducive to a relaxing swim! On our first evening we ate in the restaurant attached to the hotel, and had a very tasty Cuban Salad with salmon. I found the foyer very dark and therefore not welcoming. Shortly before our departure I needed to get something out of my suitcase, and was not able to see the numbers on the combination lock! My friend had to use the torch facility on her phone to help me! The staff were helpful, on the few occasions we need them.

Great location and staff, linens are terrible.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The property is ideally situated two blocks from the beach. There are many great places to eat close by. The staff here is awesome! The grounds are clean and they offer complimentary drinks. Now the negative. The linens in this hotel are atrocious. The quality is not of a 4 star hotel. The down bedding was clumpy and old. The blankets were sad, the towels were thin. They could do much better. Again, the staff is the best, they are super helpful and accommodating. The property managers/owners need to improve the linens and the bathrooms should be updated. The tiles in the bathroom are extremely slippery I wonder if they are wall tiles that were installed on the floor. Also the shower curtains are stained and sad. The pool area is wonderful, the lobby and adjacent restaurant are great.

Do not stay in the old side of this hotel!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I can see why this would get good reviews but our experience was not great. When we went to our room we realised it was not the room we had booked, we rang reception to be told we had been given a complimentary upgrade but the room was smaller and had 2 queen beds rather than a King bed Suite so we asked how that was an upgrade and we were asked to go back to reception. When we went back to reception we were told there was a note on our file that said due to a lift issue in their other building we had requested we were placed in an alternative room but we had not been contacted about that. Eventually we were given the room we booked and it was a real disappointment - it turns out the hotel is in two parts; the old part (which we ended up in) and the new part. We had to access our room via a restaurant fire exit staircase, the door corridor was run down, the door to the room was chipped, the room had a musty smell, the shower leaked and flooded the bathroom, it looked nothing like the modern airy pictures on booking.com. To save our experience, the next morning the manager rang us to apologise for the way in which we were dealt with during check in / room assignment (basically lied to). We were given complimentary hotel credit and a complimentary late check out (which we needed). We loved the rooftop pool area, it had a really good atmosphere and good views of Miami. The location is good and they offer free bike hire. If we had been assigned a Suite (as booked) within the new side of this hotel I honestly think this would have been a really pleasant stay. The hotel needs to ensure the room differences between the two areas are made clear - or modernise all the hotel to the same standard.

Amazing Location, Great Hotel, Friendly Staff!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Recently back from a stay at Kimpton Anglers hotel in Miami. Headed here with a few friends and the hotel didn't disappoint. The first thing you realise is how nice the hotel smells, it hits you as soon as you walk through the doors. We were greeted by friendly staff who work on the reception. Throughout the full stay the staff couldn't of been more helpful, they were able to book trips, restaurants and would always provide advice. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds were also very comfy. The bathroom is a good size and we had a great walk in shower. In terms of the pool, the rooftop pool was great. Excellent views over the Miami skyline and a nice bar area next to the pool. All in all an excellent hotel, situated in a great location on South Beach. Would 100% recommend this hotel if you are travelling as a couple or with friends.
