The Betsy - South Beach

The only true positive part of staying at the hotel was the gentleman who helped us with out baggage and the front desk worker who helped resolve issues in our room. Our bedding had a stain on the sheets and pillow case. The bedside table had a similar stain smudged on the side of it. When we called for new sheets, they were just delivered, not replaced. We had to call again for the bedding to actually be changed. The pool was nice, but had a fair amount of bugs and sand in it. No towels were available either at the time we were using the pool. Our room was large and spacious for our family but felt very rundown. The tiles in the bathroom had soap scum build up/mildew on them. The mirror tv didn’t work, most of the television channels also didn’t work. The one headboard in our room was also ripped up. The flooring was also chipped in many spots and the ceiling had stains on it. Overall, we felt that the room cleanliness and upkeep could have been better- especially for the price tag. Noise was also an issue for us in the room we had. We were on the third floor near the Betsy Orb. At about 9:15pm, as I was trying to get my youngest settled for bed, there was about 30 minutes of loud banging noises coming from the alley between the buildings. Laundry was being loaded/unloaded by workers. I understand that this is a necessary part of hotel operations but also feel there could be a more appropriate time to handle such matters. I must compliment the gentleman who helped us to our room with our bags (Juan). He truly went above and beyond to make our children feel welcome and comfortable. He got them welcome juices and waters upon arrival. He continued to greet and interact with them by name throughout our stay. I must also compliment the front desk worker who handled our situation with grace and kindness. He was very attentive to the need of bedding needing to be changed and made sure that it was handled promptly and appropriately. Without Juan and the other gentleman at the front desk, we would likely have rated this a one star. It did not live up to the expectations that were created using information from their website or other reviews.

The Betsy is a wonderful hotel, and very family friendly - despite being quite sophisticated. The staff were all very friendly and the kids had a great time. Special thanks to Gabriella, Josimar and the doorman Fritz! We will be back.

Juan was a great help throughout our stay. He was the first person to say hi when we arrived and quickly made us feel at home. We appreciate all he did for us!

Beautiful and well cared for place with fantastic staff like Aleks our server in the LT restaurant. The branzino is amazing with a unique sauce. You definitely want to try it.

The staff were so hopeful always asking if we need or if we need anything especially Juan. At check-in Juan was very helpful with our bags and giving us waters he was treating us like family.
