The Betsy - South Beach

I was meeting friends in Miami for a few days and the group was booked to stay at another hotel starting Thursday. I came in a day early and decided to stay at The Betsy for the solo portion of the trip. After a red-eye from California I turned up at the hotel at 6am. I fully expected to just stow my bags and find a place to work in the lobby or a nearby coffee shop. The staff immediately welcomed me, checked me in (my room wasn't ready but the admin process was taken care of), and showed me to a private place to freshen up. They also gave me an overview of the property and let me know I had full use of the beach, pool, and other amenities before my room was ready that afternoon. I was on the beach taking a sunrise walk and then in the restaurant having breakfast shortly after arrival. The room itself was beautifully designed and comfortable. During my stay, I was struck by how friendly and kind each member of the staff was—George, Gabriella, Fritz, Joanny, and each member the staff made this ~30 hour stay enjoyable, relaxing and memorable. I can't wait to go back on my next trip.

We sat at the bar for a couple drinks and Josh was amazing! Service was excellent. Josh was very knowledgeable about the drinks as well as the history of the hotel and what it had to offer. He also had great recommendations around the city. Coming back for the piano live music tonight!

Superb, quirky hotel in a fantastic location. Beautiful rooms, great staff and amenities. Sunset at the rooftop bar/pool is a must. Can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.

Must admit that I truly found this hotel to be one of the worst hotels to stay in for business travel that I have ever experienced. I would never stay here again and would warn my colleagues and others to avoid The Betsy if at all possible if they need any degree of professionalism or service ethic from a high-end overpriced hotel. The staff shows no ability to be flexible, but even worse leads you to believe that they will deliver…and then don’t. Super unprofessional, untrained, no service ethic. Terrible. More than disappointing. And not cheap.

Was expecting something different…. For a Miami Beach icon, I was expecting a warm welcome and lovely service. Visiting the Piano bar to soak up some local atmosphere but after sitting here 20 minutes without any interest from the staff who are standing idle by the bar (not busy). Sadly looks like they rely on a reputation built by the past. Bit of a shame Decided to take myself elsewhere
