My wife and I were buying time (avoiding 5 o'clock I-95 rush hour traffic). So we decided to get dinner early. The reviews were very nice so we made reservations and walked in. The host and the waiter were very nice. Our waiter provided excellent service and knew the menu well. As we sat we learn a lot about the history of the hotel...nice!!! There was live Latin Jazz entertainment which set the evening in a positive vibe. The food...was excellent. Very tasteful with a lot of flavor. We will be back!

Charming and historic, The Betsy has many features missing from contemporary hotels. While the rooms are small, hallways are warm, humid, a little dark, and sometimes confusing in layout, the artistic and creative points outweigh the drawbacks. There was a musty smell upon entering the lobby, which put an initial ding in the my shiny expectations, but the rooftop pool, the lovely library, and helpful staff made the stay pleasant. Automatic beach chaise/umbrella fees, and valet parking fees added significantly to the room charge but room rates are reasonable. Space was tight for myself and my two daughters in the double room with two queens overlooking the pool. Bath was gorgeous but would benefit greatly from more ventilation to address steam. Set aside some time upon arrival to explore all of the very cool details of this nicely preserved property.

We stayed here for 3 nights and were blown away! The room had a beachy vibe and one of the biggest comfiest beds we've ever had in a hotel. A bonus we discovered that continental breakfast was included and consisted of a choice of fresh pastries (2 each!) presented on little wooden boards they were delicious some of the best croissants we've had! You also had a choice of juices, coffee and tea. The rooftop pool although a little confusing to find was beautiful and had spectacular views over south beach. The sun loungers were so comfortable almost as good as the bed and the pool attendant was really attentive and new towels and lounger covers were available instantly. If you get the chance wake up early and walk across the road to the beach to watch the sunrise it was beautiful and the beach is lovely and quiet. Also if you don't have transfers from the airport use uber it's super cheap and really easy! We used it our whole stay and is definitely the easiest way to get around. This is a gorgeous hotel and definitely worth a visit.

Overall the Betsy is a BEAUTIFUL boutique hotel. There are so many finishing touches that make every space so unique, it in itself really is a work of art. The service we received was PHENOMENAL. It really seemed as though the staff absolutely loved working here and I would imagine the venue is also run by lovely people, it was just such a positive, pleasant place to be. We had the assistance of the concierge (Margot) who was also amazing, so knowledgable, and kind. Continental breakfast was delicious and the seasonal fruit was fresh and so yummy. And the croissants.... yum!!! Our room was beautiful, however it was a little on the smaller side. We had a king Art Deco room and the bed was the most comfortable freaking bed I have slept in IN MY LIFE. It was like sleeping on a cloud. WHY I DIDN'T RATE 5: Whilst beautiful and kept very clean our room definitely needed some maintenance. 1. We couldn't have the ceiling fan on because it made some crazy intermittent sounds... rattling, whizzing and scraping sounds. Very unsettling and it was so loud one night it woke us up and I was worried it was going to fall from the ceiling on to the bed and chop me up. 2. There was a huge issue with shower drainage in our room. No matter the water pressure or where the shower head was directed the water just did not drain and after every shower the bathroom was completely flooded. We raised this with reception who advised that this was because we were in a disability accessible room? We were advised that if we wished for the bathroom to be dried up at any time, to call and they would send housekeeping. Not very practical. 3. The shower head hose was leaking from the connection to the wall. So when you turned the shower on water would burst out of the wall, the remainder came out the shower head. The connection obviously just needed to be tightened/repaired. This was also raised with reception, but never repaired, which I thought was odd. 4. This is so minor, but on the final 2 days of our stay the housekeeper did not top up the shower gel in the refill bottles provided. OVERALL: We had an absolutely wonderful stay and would definitely love to come back to the Betsy.
