The looker on the strip. Grand and dapper, but does it deliver the goods? We came here for breakfast and drinks in the evening on the front porch. The breakfast was perhaps a half step up from the others, but you got the same ol’ spongy bread in spite of the menu saying nine grain. It has the air of sophistication but I suspect it is a mere varnish. Drinks and desert was lovely. It’s all good when the company is great!

We came to the Betsy for some much needed winter sun and was recommended the Betsy by family. We stayed for 1 week. We couldn’t have been more disappointed. We had a room in the new part of the hotel, which was clean and nicely decorated. However, backed onto an alleyway and had single glazing it was very noisy and didn’t have a good nights sleep the whole time we were there. We mentioned this to the front desk who showed us to be fair 2 other rooms which were smaller and overlooked their courtyard which had events on every night so decided to stay put. The front desk staff seemed to know this was a common complaint but yet nothing had been done about it. We also had the neighbouring room have a full on house party, noise blaring and a lot of people yet this wasn’t noticed by security. The service wasn’t great either. The US is renowned for its excellent service which we received everywhere in Miami but the Betsy. We wanted to sit on their ocean deck which was a bit more private than their pool deck with great views. They said there was service up there. We had to google the front desk number and ring from our phones to ask for drinks. We ordered lunch and it was brought in a paper bag like a takeaway. We went up there for a drink 1 evening there was a guy up there but didn’t ask us if we wanted a drink. To be served in the lobby bar was painful. In every other hotel bar we were greeted by friendly staff and usual water and bar snacks. We visited the Faena and the Delano both seen as better hotels and they were cheaper and had better service. Both times we went there for a wine and for a coffee it was very slow. They constantly had conferences and external events on. For a small hotel it is very disruptive for the guests as when the events were on parts of the hotel are closed off, such as the roof terraces and the courtyard. Access to these areas is also only possible via the hallways that rooms are situated on, which means the rooms are noisy and the events really intrude on your privacy. The lobby area is also almost wholly devoted to the public bar and restaurant. At almost every turn it felt like the needs of external events and public areas were put ahead of guest services. As a guest, you get very little for your money. Everything is extra (eg $35 a day resort charge, even if you don’t use the beach area or the roof deck is closed off), there are no welcome touches or real benefits to being a guest. Food and drink is very expensive - $9 for a takeaway coffee in lobby, $18 for a glass of wine and you are constantly being offered add-ons (eg at check in, you are bombarded with massage and spa services). The service and the quality of the hotel does not merit these prices. It sells itself as an elite hotel and we were really disappointed.

I have been an annual guest at the Betsy Hotel for the past several years as a visiting lecturer for their "Betsy A Cappella Festival" in November. I absolutely love this place! What immediately sets The Betsy apart from other South Beach properties is the love of art that is infused into every aspect of the grounds. The hotel recently added a large expansion wing, and one of my favorite places in the new building is the library which provides a cozy and bright setting in which to enjoy the many books that are provided. Literature and art adorn the walls, lending a real sense of unique character to the space. Any artist, or lover of art will feel right at home! After you've enjoyed a good read, head up to the rooftop pool for some of the best views of South Beach. To the west, downtown Miami. To the east, the ocean! Be sure to head up at night to see the city lights! The service here is impeccable, both in the hotel itself, and at the adjoining restaurant. The folks at the door and reception desk greet you as though you're coming home, and set you up for a perfect stay from the very first moment! Next time you're in South Beach, be sure to stay at the Betsy - a rare place committed to both comfort and a deep love of art!

I stayed at the Betsy last summer in 2017 and it was an experience I will never forget. The room was so beautiful and the hotel was amazing in general. The drinks at the bar are super strong and the food at the restaurant is delicious. I loved the hotel so much, they provide free beach umbrellas and chairs and they are literally across from the beach. I was treated like royalty by the hotels director. I went by myself and felt at home. I was greeted by various staff every time i entered the lobby. I have never felt this way at another hotel. Especially in Miami. I also met the hotels president who was a very humble man. I would love to stay again, but this time with a girlfriend to share the experience. This hotel gives me the vibes of a country club but when you step outside, it the Miami South Beach experience. I loved every part of this hotel, seriously. Not to mention the beds were so comfy, i miss the pillows and comforter! -Taylor Evans

First time in South Beach and we struck gold. From the moment we arrived, the Betsy team couldn't be more charming and helpful. The Betsy is a beautiful property, ideally situated on Ocean Drive and only a few minutes walk to the amazing beach. There are two restaurants, two pools ,a fitness room and great views from the roof tops. The Concierge service proved to be excellent. Our room was first class and very well equipped. We recommend The Betsy on every count.
