⭐️⭐️⭐️ Needs Better Maintenance and Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

The hotel looks nice overall, but the room wasn’t as clean as expected. Several things were damaged and not properly repaired, which made the stay a bit frustrating, especially for the price they charge. The staff at the reception also didn’t seem very friendly or welcoming, which added to the disappointment. With a bit more care for cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service, this place could be much better.

Amazing staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

This is a fantastic hotel and I'd highly recommend it! It's the second time I've been and the staff couldn't do more to help you out and help you to have a great stay. I'm visually impaired and use a cane - it's one of the most inclusive hotels I've ever been to, and I travel a lot for work. Marc ensured there was a member of staff to show me round and find plug sockets, light switches, how to use the shower etc as soon as I got there (things I often find difficult) and they'd thought through loads of little things to make finding the room and navigating the hotel easier. He also checked in on me during my stay. The door staff were really helpful - Luis helped me with an umbrella when it was pouring with rain, and with directions. And everyone in the hotel, from pool staff to restaurant and desk staff were so helpful and kind. I honestly can't recommend it enough. The rooms were extremely clean and towels replaced regularly, and I enjoyed swimming in the pool each morning when hardly anyone used it. I went to the two free yoga classes that are available during your stay and both were incredibly inclusive and enjoyable. I'm new to travelling on my own and using it to build my confidence post-sight loss and this was such a great experience that I'd like to go back as soon as I can! Thank you for another amazing stay.

Terrible customer service and no hot showers

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I checked in the Mondrian on October 10th and checked out October 12th. Throughout that time, I called the front desk three times regarding the lack of hot water in our room while showering. I spoke to Sebastian, a supervisor, who indicated that the water on the top floor corner units do not get very hot. He then he proceeded to offer an $100 credit (two night resort fee). I've called three times since then to obtain an update on the refund and also spoke to a representative from booking to no avail. This was especially disappointing considering we paid a lot of money for our reservation. I should have booked at the Fountainbleu, which were my initial thoughts.

Great hotel, but poor policy changes

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We have stayed at the Mondrian South Beach a number of times over the past several years and have always enjoyed our stays. The hotel is upscale as are the rooms, the location is great, directly on Biscayne Bay, every staff member that we interacted with were friendly, professional and helpful. A complimentary glass of Proseco offered at check-in was nice. When we checked in and went to our room, the AC and TV were not operable and I had to first call the front desk to ask for someone to come and fix them. I was told that someone would come, but after about 20 minutes sitting in an ~88 degree room, I went down to the front desk to complain, and we were taken to a new room were the basics were actually working. OK, that might happen anywhere and the problem was solved. However, the hotel management has made a number of policy changes that are not in the interests of its guests. Specifically, the rooms have essentially been stripped bare of all the normal complimentary items one would expect to have in a hotel of this class. There were no plastic cups (or any glasses for that matter) supplied in the room - I had to go to the bar to ask for some, there were no napkins, no complimentary water , no in-room coffee maker, there were no complimentary slippers (always there in previous visits), there was no coffee in the main lobby (there always has been in previous visits - the coffee was "hidden" at the entrance to the third floor gym), there was an electric cooktop in the room kitchen but there was absolutely nothing to use with it, not even a plastic knife, fork or spoon (I had to go to the hotel restaurant to ask for a spoon to mix my wife's medicine), there was a large pile of misc. items for sale piled up on the kitchen counter which was not surprising. There was not even a pad of paper and pen in the room - however there was a wooden pencil and a thin pad of paper sealed in plastic and priced at $7! After we noted all of this, I called the front desk again and asked to speak to front end manager. I was told that he was on a "break" and would call me back when his break was finished. He never called back and I just decided to just forget it and just try and enjoy my vacation.
