Expected a 4 diamond experience, but instead had items taken and hotel refused to investigate.

A family member was getting married at the Palms. My entire family stayed at another hotel, but I spent the extra to stay here to be close to the wedding and activities. I paid extra for "Oceanfront". I could see the ocean but I was in a corner unit and half my view was a giant alleyway with garbage and dumpsters. The trucks would be going in and out of the alley at 5 am making noise and the view of trash was a huge disappointment since I paid extra for an upgraded room. A manager was kind and tried to move us over a few doors down, but when it came time to move no one could find her so a random employee volunteered to assist. As we were moving, the employee continuously left the area and the doors would shut preventing us from moving all of our things. We called down to the front desk twice to tell her to please come back, as we couldn't get into the room once the door was shut. After the second time she came up and was rushing us because they needed our other room for another guest (understandable). We realized we left all of our Universal Studios souvenirs in the old room and reached out to the from desk who said "there was nothing in the room". We explained we left it in the closet , and without asking us what we left or taking any information we just got a quick response of "no one left anything". Once home I emailed again to follow up, as it was a few hundred dollars worth of items and again a basic reply of "we have nothing". Not once did anyone ask us for a description of what we left, or tried to investigate or do anything. Obviously someone took the belongings after we moved rooms. Had the moving process been professional and they didn't keep leaving us with locked doors preventing us from getting our things and making a thorough check we may not have ran into this issue. I do accept partial responsibility that I should have pushed harder to get my things immediately, but it was a very disappointing experience to go through especially being there for a wedding. The other Pros & Cons.. Cons- -The "queen" beds are closer to twin size and very hard. Don't expect to fit 2 people on a "queen". Even if your small! -I booked and paid in full and when I arrived was told there was a $50/ night hotel fee. This should be told upon booking, and not a surprise fee. My reservation said it included all taxes and fees. Pro- -The hotel offers some incentives to clean up the beach which I was excited about. -The Valet is fast getting your car. However please note there is ALSO a $50/night valet fee. (This was not disclosed during booking or upon check-in. I found out 3 days later by a family member who was talking about it!!) -The pool is very warm. We enjoyed swimming and walking around the garden area with butterflies fluttering about. -The hotel is right on a beach path which was great to walk and ride bikes -The beach was close by and easy to access.

Relaxing beachfront stay with a calm, spa-focused atmosphere

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed here looking for a more relaxed and wellness-oriented experience, and the atmosphere felt calm and refreshing from the start. The beachfront setting made it easy to unwind, and the overall environment felt peaceful compared to busier nearby hotels. The outdoor areas and common spaces were well maintained and contributed to a sense of balance and comfort during the stay. The spa surroundings and quieter areas of the property provided a pleasant place to slow down and relax, especially during less crowded times of the day. This felt like a good option for travelers who value a calmer pace while still being close to the city. Overall, it was a comfortable and restorative stay.

Fred’s customer service at The Palms Hotel. My colleagues and I were able to safely catch our ride service while he handled all of our bags and other items!
