Here for a conference: Great Restaurant and Service Staff But...I wish the management had been as responsive and pleasant as the servers and workers. The waitstaff, esp. Mihai, went out of their way to be accommodating and treated all the guests with cheerfulness and attention. The management and staff, not so much. I asked for a late check-out (very early afternoon: 2 pm) and was rebuffed until I went to the General Manager's office and was then only permitted to stay until 1. I understand that hotels are inconvenienced by such requests but I'd asked for several days in a row, knowing I would like the additional hours because of an interview I had to do over the telephone from the room, and received no reply from the front desk. In fact, the front desk staff was not helpful--nor were they particularly welcoming. The room was fine although the lighting in the bathroom made it impossible to see one's self (no mirror except one over the sink and that was very poorly lit) and the bathrobes were kept in a tiny toilet-cubicle where the low-water toilet sprayed against them every flush. I'm usually a fan of hotel bathrobes, but I didn't wear one here. The breakfast buffet is excellent and the omelet chef was terrific. Once again, the folks serving were excellent. I wish I could say they were enough to draw me back but that is not the case.

Family of 4, kids 2 & 4 yrs old. This review was for our stay 3/18/17-3/21/17. I was hesitant after my husband booked the hotel and I read the not so great reviews. Not sure what the fuss was all about. Our stay was delightfully worry free! Our double garden room (even though small) on the 4th floor was nice and clean, the room was cleaned everyday, beach umbrella and chairs are provided with our stay (website doesn't mention, & the automatic charge was on the bill but we don't mind as we would've paid extra anyways...except on the days we didn't go to the beach...), not all inclusive but we did dine at Essencia which had a kid friendly menu. Our 2 yr old was "that child" who....needed a lot of attention....ahem, spanking...was received with blank and aloof attention thank goodness! What impressed me most was Leoner, who helped up set up he umbrella and chairs for us daily. He was very good with the kids and played with them even! That was the highlight of our stay! The second day we were there Leoner already set us up chairs and umbrella and even beach towels! How wonderful he was! He even provided us with beach toys!!' Over the top!!! Wow. Cocktails were made with enough booze that made it worth the price. Make sure to check the receipt before signing. I think we were too tired to look at the charges at the end and I highly suspected we were overcharged. An extra towel card was given after we asked, but we were initially only given 2 towels for the 4 of us. Everyone was helpful even though it was a "cold" kind of attitude. Valet was pricey but hey we are in vacation so why not. They were professional and quick. We did tip every time. I used the gym daily, which can be surprisingly big and busy. Towels and water are provided. Wished I could've gotten a massage at the spa! But we had kids & i didn't want to leave them. oh well. We would stay here again for the convenience of everything.

We have stayed here for four years in a row and there has been a distinct change in service. We still love the location, the pool, the room, beach and tiki bar but new management seems to be skimping on service. Examples are: no maid service twice in a six night stay, turn down service only twice, a fifteen minute wait for breakfast table despite many empty tables, no beach towels or beach chairs until after 8:30 am while neighboring hotels are set to go before 8:00. They also instituted a new tablet based ordering system for wait staff that seems cumbersome and less efficient. One positive note is the remodeling of the lobby and check in area which look great. Management needs to return to service as a top priority and realize that happy employees are the key to happy guests. The staff is what I have always touted as the reason we have returned here each year and while they remain attentive and pleasant something has changed in numbers and management needs to make sure they have enough staff to meet the needs of guests.

Stayed at the Palms at a friend's recommendation. The room was a decent size and spotless. The check in process was smooth and the staff was pleasant. Pedro, Arturo and Dayron at the Tiki Bar were all great. They were both attentive and personable which made our stay that much better. The pool and the beach were both beautiful, and the food was great. I'd definitely recommend and consider staying again the next time I go to Miami.

$430 a night, including taxes, the now-ubiquitous "resort fee" (which means towels at the pool). And that was the rate after they adjusted it. The room: Well, it was as advertised, 270 square feet. But do you realize how small a 270-square-foot hotel room is? The bathroom was woefully small. The closet was large -- but who cares? I asked four times for an upgrade. The first three times I was told there were no available rooms. The fourth time - after I showed the desk agent the hotel's website indicating other rooms - said she would move me to an "adult size" room (my words, not hers) for an additional fee. Mind you, I was there with a wedding party that booked dozens of room nights. No thanks. Now the food was good and he restaurant and pool service was excellent (For which they automatically added the tip. The pool and grounds are gorgeous and the beach is also very, very nice. The hotel is not in the heart of South Beach. So if you're looking for the SoBe action, look at another hotel.
