Reviews for Room Mate Lord Balfour
Excellent customer service! From the check in with Cesar to the check out with Rey and everything in between was outstanding. This boutique hotel is the perfect location, 5 min walk to the beach and far from the noise. I will definitely be back without a doubt.

By far, the best boutique styled hotel in South beach. This hotel was very clean, well maintained, affordable, in the center of the action, but far enough where you could get some solid sleep at night. The staff at Lord Balfour was beyond amazing. Devin works the front desk and was our main point of contact during our stay. My boyfriend was able to work with him to make my time even more magical than expected. Devin went above and beyond to make sure our stay was memorable. But Devin was not the only staff member that made our stay amazing, Gilbert, Ana, Veronica, Paloma and Carol all contributed to me and my boyfriend having the most amazing FIRST BAECATION ever. I will definitely be back and I've already recommended the place to several people. Can't wait to come back to LORD BALFOUR on OCEAN DRIVE IN SOUTH BEACH.

This hotel was a real surprise. We have stayed in a number of Art Deco hotels on South Beach. Mostly the hotel lobbies and fronts are magnificent. The backs of most hotels are then rather basic and uncomfortable. This hotel is run by the Spanish Room Mate chain (e.g. Malaga) and the rooms are modern and everything works. Front desk staff are super friendly (and seem to mean it) and the rooms are spacious for South Beach Standard in this price range. We received not only excellent free WI-FI but also a personal data not spot device to connect to our (UK) mobile phone, so we didn’t have to use (UK) data but had US data access at all times so we could use Über taxis whilst in South Beach. The restaurant part of the hotel is run and owned by a separate company. So called happy hour drinks are hugely overpriced and there are even any canapés or even nibbles offered with these overpriced drinks. The restaurant also offers dinner at hugely overpriced items. Pity really. The fitness centre is well equipped but you cannot use it until 9am which is useless really. Most hotels offer gyms from 6 am. But then the beach is only a 4 Minute jogg away. You get free beach towels, and deck chairs plus an umbrella on the beach (included in the $9.99 per day resort fee). Make sure you ask about all the taxes and get a quote for the room per night Including ALL fees , taxes and additional charges. Otherwise it’s a nasty shock on check out. The hotel also charge you a credit card fee on arrival of approx £ 200. Make sure this is a “holding charge “. Otherwise your credit card company will charge you a fee on top. Do not give the hotel a debit card. The charge will be even higher. Try and settle your final bill in cash especially as the £ Sterling is weak at present.

I stayed for 4 days during NEW YEARS vacations. The hotel is clean well kept and in a confortable locations good for all SOUTH BEACH needs. I just wanted to express my apreciations for the good service and good handling of a personal matter where I had to leave earlier and the management found a good solution that fulfilled my needs. Awsome job. Next time will come again. Thanks to veronica as well at front desk!
I’m not sure why the reviews for this hotel are so high, but I can tell you that’s exactly what lured us in too. Upon our arrival we were less than enthused about the set up. The place was a ghost town, it was like everyone knew not to come here except us. The desk clerk, Jose was ok at first, but on the second day he showed his true colors by being very rude, and his lack of experience was obvious. The room was basic, not nearly worth the cost! In addition, we could not understand the reason why a large picture of some goth-like supermodel was posted on the wall above our bed. My significant other asked me to cover the out of place artwork, because it was staring at us all night! Down the hall from us was another hotel guest who had people opening and slamming his room door all night. Jose tried to to address the issue by making threats of forcing the guy out of the hotel, but he practically thumbed his nose at the inexperienced desk clerk, and continued to raise hell. See the pictures below? Expand them and look closer. Yes! Those are bugs on the breakfast bar. But don’t be alarmed! We did not incur any additional fees, they were on the house, (Yes that’s my attempt at sarcasm). I brought it to managements attention, and they responded as though nothing was wrong, I was shocked! To make matters worse, even the bartender was bad, her drinks were terrible! However, she was very nice. I hope my candid review assist you in making an informed decision, but please do not be fooled by the star rating, something isn’t correct.
