We decided to drive to Miami after a company event in Orlando and were excited to stay in South Beach. I choose the Royal Palms because it was a Starwood property and I normally enjoy staying at this brand of hotels. The hotel was was in a good location and overall the reviews seemed ok.....but that should have been the warning sign. I was prepared for the steep overnight car cost $46 but not the service we received after that. We had come from a Ritz Carlton property so maybe our expectations were too high but.....on arrival, we gave the Valet our name and expected luggage to be delivered to our room. This did not happen so i called down after 1/2 hour to be told that the luggage was being loaded and sent up, another half an hour and we decided to not wait any longer. We went down to see our luggage sitting in the middle of the lobby. We decided to take it up to our room but were stopped by the receptionist who rather rudely told us they could not find our name and somehow it was all our fault. I explained we had given it to the Valet but to no avail. To say this started our stay off on the wrong foot would be an understatement. We went out for dinner and when we came back the luggage was in room and the originally intended $10 tip money gone, we had not left it out in an obvious place as a tip given the I should say stolen. From there on our expectations for this property were low and we spent as little time there as possible. Our room was not cleaned until about 7pm on our second night and the apartment we stayed in was at best average in terms of space and cleanliness. The Bill also was not sent to the room, but by that point as I said my expectations were non existent My partner and I enjoyed South Beach and would stay at the Delano or National next time. I would definitely not stay here again.

Royal Palm Hotel has so many years in the business of hospitality. I guess the hotel was under construction some years ago and in 2013 came back to business with a very nice renovation. So is a great choice to stay in SoBe, you can walk to ocean drive, lincoln road, take a bus, a taxi or rent a car. Almost a half block away there is the public parking soooo what else Enjoy SoBe !!

Stayed 3 nights at the Royal Palm before our cruise. Amazing property. Great location. Would stay there again just not during hurricane season. The walk to the Lincoln mall area was nice and there are outdoor seating type restaurants that are fun.

Hotel is decent, some minor gripes in addition to the major gripe about the hidden required valet charge. Minor gripe: 3 calls over two days before slippers arrived. Minor gripe: machine available to *rent* charger for your cell phone for $5 per day. Very petty, and not appropriate for a decent hotel. Motel 6, maybe. Minor gripe: shower head is fixed, not removable, no hose. Kudos: Pool area was good and drink service excellent. Overall rating based on hidden valet charge of $42 - not stated on website (or anywhere).
