The hotel is very close to the sea and well equipped. The staff is very friendly. Ariel was especially helpful — he gave us great recommendations on where to eat and the best places to shop. Thank you so much, Ariel, for the great tips and for taking the time for us!

Charged for Pre-Existing Damage — Be Careful

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We stayed at Sagamore South Beach in early July, and unfortunately, it ended with a frustrating and disappointing experience. When we went to check in at the official check-in time of 4 PM, we were told our room wasn’t ready. We returned about 20 minutes later, and the front desk still seemed unsure. It was clear the room was rushed and not properly inspected before we were let in. When we got to the room, the in-room safe/cabinet were already damaged — the safe didn’t open properly, was visibly misaligned, and the decorative front panel was already falling off. The safe was not usable. Several days after checkout, we were charged $2,000 for “damages.” We immediately disputed it and explained the condition we found it in. The hotel lowered the charge to $300 with no real explanation — which only made the situation feel even more questionable. They never sent an itemized list for the charges. From what we saw, it looked like the drawer just needed a simple screw tightened and some glue for the covered. If we hadn’t responded, would they have just kept the full amount? After this happened, we looked up more reviews and found several recent complaints mentioning broken fixtures, poor room conditions, and maintenance issues — with some guests saying staff even acknowledged the problems. That matched our experience and made it feel like this was not an isolated case. We don’t usually leave negative reviews, but this felt unfair and unacceptable. If you do stay here, take photos and videos of your room the moment you arrive. Otherwise, you risk being charged for damage that was already there. We’ve traveled all over the world and have never encountered an issue like this at any hotel.

Amazing hotel with excellent staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stood for a day pass but I would definitely spend multiple nights here !! Very family oriented , nice lounge with great artwork , very friendly staff. Kudos to Ariel for taking care of me and my 1 year old baby girl , bringing her drinks and fresh water without being asked and taking care of us for lunch/ dinner. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a friendly and relaxing stay while being on beautiful south beach!

Beware extra fees

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Beware of extra fees if you book online. This hotel is past its prime. It’s well located, but it felt like there was a layer of sand on everything in the room. We stayed at the hotel less than 12 hours during a layover and were charged an additional $50 ‘resort fee’ on top of the what we prepaid online. We were under the impression that our prepayment covered the full price.
