The Villa Casa Casuarina, the former home of Gianni Versace, has been transformed into an elegant Miami Beach retreat. Built in 1930, the mansion has the designer's touch throughout, and is a mix of Spanish and Italian influences coupled with opulent details. The Ocean Drive manor-turned-boutique-hotel features just 10 suites showcasing rich and vibrant hues with only the finest of furnishings displayed. Lounge by the legendary mosaic pool or slip behind the curtain of a luxury beachfront cabana. Sunset cocktails are best enjoyed in the Observatory lounge overlooking the glistening Atlantic Ocean. Casa Casuarina also features a trio of sultry lounges including one for cigar aficionados. Guests can enjoy culinary specialties atop the upper terrace with views of the tropical gardens. The acclaimed fine dining establishment Loftin's 1116 Ocean, with its detailed stone mosaic, adds an element of drama to your meals. It is easy to envision the likes of Madonna or Elton John supping here during Versace's celebrated reign.

We booked to stay two nights at the “Versace” mansion for our wedding anniversary after my sister-in-law recommended it based off of her stay there around five years ago. We normally stay at Four Seasons hotels or the Nobu/Faena when in Miami. (We are experienced travellers). Prior to arrival we attempted to call the hotel numerous times. Each time we would be on hold for over 45 minutes then just hang up. We sent an email to the hotel asking them to call us, which they never responded to or did. (The hotel lacks service). Upon arrival we pulled up at their valet stand that is three blocks from the hotel. The valet told us the bell boy would be five minutes. Five minutes passed and he said this again & said it was normal for them to make guest checking into the hotel wait. Eventually 30 minutes passed of us sitting in our car waiting and we just carried our own bags for the 10 minute walk to the front of the hotel from valet (horrible & unorganized check-in). Once at the hotel we noticed how dirty & in disrepair the stair cases & hallways of the building are. Then we were put into a dirty, moldy, damaged bedroom. You can look at the room photos and judge for yourself. We immediately told the front desk we would rather just be refunded & checkout. The front desk person said that the manager would be in the next morning and they couldn’t authorize that. The room was advertised as pool view but there was no view of anything through our cracked windows. The air conditioning in the room could only be turned on at 62° or shut off. The bedding was very damp from the A/C situation. (Dirty damaged moldy rooms that are falsely advertised). Prior to dinner on our first night we tried to take a nap, but the noise from the restaurant is so loud it wasn’t possible. Getting ready for the evening was very difficult because the only light in the room is the cheap nightstand lights. (Very dark rooms with no lights at night). We went to the hotel bar to get a drink. We waited for a waiter for 20 minutes and then decided to leave. We went to sexy fish for dinner then to the Faena living room. We came back and went to sleep. (Horrible service). At 8:30am in the morning, we were awaken by drilling & hammering in the hallway. This noise was so loud you could hear it from outside the hotel and on the street. I took a video of this noise from bed as evidence because I could not believe what we were experiencing. (Very loud hotel construction! Unable to sleep at this “hotel”). We decided to get up and go for breakfast. We asked the front desk again for the manager that they said the night before would be in that morning. After an hour the front desk manager showed up and said nobody knew where the general manager was, but there was nothing they could do other than to change our room. We didn’t want to repack and unpack all of our things after everything the hotel put us through. The drilling noise was so loud you could hear it at breakfast and we were certain you’d be able to hear it in another room(No accountability or willingness to help by any staff members). The breakfast was not as advertised. They serve croissants and bread from Costco. I got a medium rare steak, which came out still with blood on it. I politely pointed it out to them so they reheated it again. During breakfast we watched about 40 wait staff prepare the pool area for lunch. (Horrible breakfast food & atmosphere). The pool is damaged and surrounded by over 100 tables that are jampacked with people having lunch and watching you swim during the day. (Not as advertised or relaxing). We left after one night of torture and they would not refund us for our second night but we could not stay in the conditions regardless. I’m surprised that the city of Miami even allows the hotel to remain open. It is filthy and unsafe.

Talia embodies everything you would hope for in a world-class hospitality professional. From the very first interaction, her warmth, grace, and genuine kindness made the entire experience at the Versace Mansion feel effortless and elevated. She has an exceptional ability to anticipate needs before they’re expressed, all while maintaining the perfect balance of professionalism and personal connection. Talia made us feel not just welcomed, but truly cared for, like honored guests rather than visitors. Her attention to detail, calm confidence, and sincere hospitality reflect the highest standards of excellence one would expect from an iconic destination like the Versace Mansion. Experiences like this don’t happen by chance, they happen because of people like Talia. She is an absolute asset to the property, and her presence alone elevates the entire stay. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

New Year's Eve 2025. We celebrated again at Casa Casuarina. I have to say that we will not be attending again. The food was disappointing. The pate tart again for starter, tortellini was cold and hard, for the main course we asked for the fish. It came with potatoes and salad. The potatoes were warm the salad was warm and the fish was cold. I can't even say the service was good. It would take for ever for our server to come by. Total waste of $$$$

The service was exceptional. We had a slight issue with the condition of our room but once we alerted Talia, she was quick to offer an upgraded room at no extra cost. Staff was pleasant and it it truly a beautiful place.

Our stay at the former Versace Mansion was absolutely exceptional — a true 10/10 experience from beginning to end. The restaurant is outstanding, with one of the most beautiful atmospheres we’ve ever experienced. The food is incredible. We stayed for a week and enjoyed breakfast there every morning, where Gabriel took such wonderful care of us. He was kind, welcoming, and attentive, making every morning special. We also dined at the restaurant for lunch and dinner about four times, trying a variety of dishes, every single one was delicious. The staff was always happy to accommodate us and consistently seated us at our preferred table. We began our stay in the Amore Suite, which was beautiful, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. The bed felt like sleeping on a cloud. We were lucky enough to move into the Empire Suite, thanks to Talia at the front desk, who truly made our stay unforgettable. She went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed, making us feel genuinely welcome and at home. She is truly one in a million. All of the staff were exceptional, including the bellman and the other front desk team member. Everyone was warm, professional, and attentive. The Empire Suite is absolutely breathtaking — our jaws dropped the moment we walked in. The architecture of this hotel is unmatched. We explored the entire property and highly recommend visiting the observatory and the other wing of the hotel where the Medallion Suite is located. Spending mornings by the pool was such a peaceful and beautiful experience. The pool is warm, serene, and absolutely perfect. We felt completely at home during our stay and cannot wait to return. We would recommend Villa Casa Casuarina to anyone — it is truly an experience everyone should have at least once in their lifetime.
