Mandarin Oriental, Miami in Miami, Florida

There's an unmistakable air of Magic City in the five-star design of Mandarin Oriental Miami. Palm-shaded cabanas are just as glamorous as they are in South Beach, but with the added allure of seclusion granted by a private beach club on tony Brickell Key. Three floors of the resort are dedicated to Mandarin Oriental’s signature spa treatments, and it’s also home to the only North American location of Chinese luxury brand Shanghai Tang.

Pity the souls arriving to work in the skyscrapers across the water – your office is a hammock, and an infinity-edge swimming pool is just a few strides away. Order a pre-lunch mojito. In the afternoon, strut down boutique-lined Lincoln Road like it's your runway. Listen to Cuban jazz in the balmy night air as neon lights glint off Biscayne Bay.

This place is off the hook! The room service is 24 hours, the location gives you a fantastic view of the Atlantic and downtown Miami, the food is unbelievable and the service level is through the roof. If you've got a ton of money or if someone else is footing the bill, then stay at the Mandarin Oriental!

I recently stayed at the Mandarin Oriental for one night this past weekend. The service is impeccable and makes you feel special. The only criticism I have of the property is the high walk in rate which comes out to $500 with tax.

One of my favorite luxury hotels. The pool, the views, rooms, people, food, attentions, SPA, restaurants, everything are perfect for me. The location is difficult now a day because of the growing of the Brickell area, and if you just like to go to the beach (like south beach) forget it. I like a lot because have many friends who lives in the island, but not is good enough for everybody. MandarĂn Oriental Hotels are like my second home.

Overall this is a good hotel, located in a nice area within easy walking distance to Miami CBD and surrounds. The staff are helpful and the decore is quality and modern. All facilities are available including a pool, private sand beach on the bay. There is also a really good restaurant which offers outdoor dining as well. Our rooms (2) had great water and city views which was spectacular at night.

For those who know the MO group from their amazing hotels in Asia, this is NOT it. This is a substandard, poorly managed hotel - think quality of a Radisson level - not a luxury hotel. The first way this is known is on the drive up to the hotel - imagine pulling up to the valet and watching the attendants just..stand there. Not moving while your car is waiting to pull in because one is wrist-deep finger-in-nose and other is scratching his nether bits while they're chatting. Oh, a guest pulling in - pay no attention.. Then, the check in. The lovely Rachelle couldn't find our reservation, then insisted it must have just been booked that day, then found it, then didn't find that it was for two rooms not one, then told us the highlights of the package we were on but not the details (exactly how did the free wifi work when there was a charge on it? and what did the free breakfast include?). Once situated in our room when we called down to ask no one at the front desk would pick up the phone. Do not bother use the pool or the beach. If you really want to be assured to have a great pool experience and you're stuck here book a day pass to the Biltmore over in Coral Gables. The pool is little more than a round plunge-pool overloaded with customers and the beach is a patch of dirty sand. Even better, when you try to get a chair you're told there is nothing available - and no mention of the mysterious wait list - while you can see chairs just sitting there empty but for trash. Special shout out to Raoul at the pool and Jorge at the beach who are either super lazy or super dumb but both were just useless in helping people find chairs. I have time-stamped photos of chairs that sat unattended and uncleaned over the course of 3 hours. Yup, 3 hours Housekeeping? Some days they came, occasionally they didn't. Turn down service sometimes. They took one of our robes away randomly and never replaced it. Ditto with shampoo. The hands down worst person to deal with is Dieter (--) at the pool restaurant, followed up closely by the spa manager Kristin. I had booked a Spa Day (not cheap friends), that included lunch by the pool. Now what do you think that means? Lunch at a table near the spa? overlooking the pool? How about being told that you were lucky they were going to "accommodate" you with a seat at the bar (while you're in your robe) stuck in between two groups of people drinking not even facing the pool. Sound like your luxury spa day 'lunch by the pool" - yet this was how it was positioned to me by dumb-Dieter (--). Oh and on check out - check your bill - ours included hundreds of dollars of charges that shouldn't have been there. And Robert (--) - don't bother to respond. I tried to call your office 3 x while we there and was sent to your assistant's voicemail line and never got a response. Although I spoke to Sebastian (--) the mentioned "do you want a credit" somehow never appeared. @Hong Kong - you need to either dump this property or clean house and bring in a new management team top to bottom.
