Mandarin Oriental, Miami in Miami, Florida

There's an unmistakable air of Magic City in the five-star design of Mandarin Oriental Miami. Palm-shaded cabanas are just as glamorous as they are in South Beach, but with the added allure of seclusion granted by a private beach club on tony Brickell Key. Three floors of the resort are dedicated to Mandarin Oriental’s signature spa treatments, and it’s also home to the only North American location of Chinese luxury brand Shanghai Tang.

Pity the souls arriving to work in the skyscrapers across the water – your office is a hammock, and an infinity-edge swimming pool is just a few strides away. Order a pre-lunch mojito. In the afternoon, strut down boutique-lined Lincoln Road like it's your runway. Listen to Cuban jazz in the balmy night air as neon lights glint off Biscayne Bay.

I have just had a two night stay at the Mandarin Oriental with my wife on my first visit to Miami. The hotel is in a fantastic location with great views across the harbour. The staff were all very helpful and our room was clean and pleasant. Although we did not eat in the hotel, the barman who served our drinks was very passionate about the Peruvian cuisine. Will have to try it next time. Poolside was very busy with plenty of towels left on the sun beds and no sign of their users! Make sure you enquire as to whether your room rate includes breakfast. Valet parking was reasonable and these guys seemed to work really hard not to keep you waiting. All in all, it is a great hotel with plenty of other options of places to eat out.

We stayed here after returning from Key West. The hotel is really nicely located on a little island, looking back at downtown across the water. We got a nice upgrade to a suite, and loved the night skyline. Had dinner at La Mar and enjoyed the Peruvian food there. The pool area and little beach is popular and busy. The staf is really friendly, and higly professional. My only disappointment was with how loud the airco blower in the room was.

We love this hotel for a lot of reasons - great location, walking distance to Brickel Avenue but far enough away to not have the traffic, views are great, and the service is always top notch. Love the walking path around the Key the property is located on.

My Husband and I stayed at the Oriental for one night prior to our cruise (very convenient to port) and while the room was a good size, comfortable and had some great upscale touches, it was dated feeling. Our view was from higher up, but an obstructed view of the water and the smell upon going out to the balcony was TERRIBLE. We simply could not spend time out there. The check-in was flawless and the staff was very friendly. We did not spend much time at the hotel as we were on in town for one night so I can't speak to the amenities on site. On disappointment was that we wanted to soak in a hot tub in the evening after returning to the hotel from dinner and it, along with the pool, were closed for a private event. The following morning we found the running path around the island to be crowded, but still a nice area to run.
