Milan can be a busy and noisy city, but this hotel is close to the main central areas like the Doumo, yet removed enough to be a little green, secluded spot. It's a classic, well preserved hotel with excellent quality and service.

We booked for one night intransit from Athens to Geneva via Milan. We were "upgraded" to room 529 directly above a tram station. The trams rumbled until late in the evening and woke us again very early in the morning. We had drinks with friends and paid €70 for a bottle of wine that costs €5 in some supermarkets. We are aware of the need to cover overheads but there are limits. My steak in the restaurant was minute and my wife's duck consisted of 5 microscopic morsels spread out on a large plate. We paid an extortionate sum for a half bottle of Brunello and nursed a splitting headache for much of the night. The meager buffet breakfast was €35 for scrambled eggs and a yoghurt. They converted my money and their experience into their money and my experience by combining sleight of hand, poor service and extortionate prices.

From the valet and bell team who greeted us upon arrival to the breakfast staff who took care of our every need, to the reception professionals that remedied an error by AMEX travel, the Hotel Principe di Savoia made our stay special. The rooms were immaculate and well-appointed, the concierges offered recommendations that fit perfectly our interests, and each of the breakfast, pre-opera meal, dinner and cocktail experiences were delicious and perfectly serviced. We were so happy with the experience we decided to extend our stay another night. American Express Travel erred with the reservation. I contacted the front desk at midnight and received assurances the matter would be remedied. The next morning the reception manager greeted me with full information and resolution. That the Principe di Savoia reception team communicated across shifts and fixed the problem seamlessly and timely made a favorable impression. All of the representatives were attentive and friendly. We experienced none of the pretension or arrogance that accompany some 5-star hotels. We could not have been happier with the service and accommodations.

A traditional style hotel for Italy with attention to detail the reason people stay here so regularly. The food was delicious and the service nothing but excellent before during and after my stay. I loved the fact that the staff tied my charger cable in a sweet ribbon (small touches like that make it worthwhile).

We were only here for 36 hours and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is quite large and well run. The Spa and Pool was quite busy and we enjoyed the bar both nights prior to heading out to dinner on good recommendations from the Concierge. Our room was small but well appointed and some care has been taken to renovate the rooms in a classic, sort of over the top decor.
