Melia Milano in Milan, Italy

If your sweet tooth aches when you check into Meliá Milano, there might still be sugar in the building’s bones: This used to be the site of Alemagna cake factory, famous for inventing the traditional Christmas cake panettone. The factory was leveled in World War II, and an elegant hotel took its place in 2001. Rooms are outfitted in rich, neutral colors with heavy brocaded drapes and gilded gold embellishments. For a modern change of pace, book the Diabolik Comic Experience Room, a noire-style tribute to the Italian comic hero.

Take a morning walk around the quiet university neighborhood of Fieria. Hop the train to downtown Milan and visit the Duomo. Peruse Prada, Gucci and Massimo Dutti’s luscious leather goods under the glass-domed roof of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Sample one of the city’s trademark dishes – risotto alla Milanese glows yellow with saffron.

Few minutes walk to Corso Sempione and 10min walk to Arc de Pace which has many cafes/bars/restaurants and Parc Sempione. There is also a small local restaurant few doors from the hotel. The metro is just across the street. So location is great! Everything was very good about this hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. My friend got ill. They were caring and they brought her cookies and tea free of charge.

The Majesty of the hotel and the Neoclassical wanna be style might fool you. I am part of a major US airline crew member and I stay at this hotel all the time. on Jan 17, 2018 they gave me room # 503 on the 5th floor. The room was very cold all day long and the A/C was very noisy so it was impossible to fall asleep. When I called the reception they told me I had to wait until the afternoon in order to change the room. They also said that from their computer they could see the balcony in the room was opened and that was the reason why the room was cold. I assured them the balcony was closed the whole time! The hotel seems amazing from the surface but I can assure you they also have very bad rooms too.

I have been to many five star hotels and Melia either beats them all or ties with the very best. The most important thing about Melia is its service and excellent housekeeping. They give us Fresh Fruits and drinks every day and just before going to bed they would make sure to give us all chocolates or leave them on our beds. The bathroom is amazing. Excellent shower and facilities. Toiletries are TOP quality and generously refilled everyday. Very good baths robes and towels. Good water pressure. Melia has Jigger bar and ristorante which is excellent and top quality food and often live music. Melia has full range of fitness and Spa for guests including many different massages. Breakfasts are elaborate and not just top quality BUT also cover few different cuisines from American to Far East. Reception is professional but CAN be more guest friendly that may work better with rest of the experiences. Location of the hotel is good. On small walk distances you can find everything from grocery stores to restaurants. I highly recommend Melia and will definitely stay here the next time I am in Milano.

The hotel is nice and very good positioned near to the LOTTO station. Rooms are huge and well equipped. Breakfast is good. Anyway I was no very satisfied because of neutral attitude of the staff even I am a platinum member of Melia Rewards.
