Palace Hotel

We enjoyed our stay at the Palace Hotel in Milano Marittima, and the staff were generally friendly and welcoming. However, in our opinion, the hotel itself does not fully meet the standard expected from a five-star hotel. Our room was very small for a family of four, and we felt overcrowded throughout our stay, the room booked was the only option with our travel agent . We were also disappointed that the hotel was advertised as having a private beach, without making it clear that guests must pay an additional fee to use it. For our family of four, the sun loungers and umbrellas cost €130 per day. There was no free area where guests could simply place their towels on the sand, as you can at many other destinations. This unexpected expense should be clearly stated when booking. We would especially like to mention Alina from Spiaggia Beach and Cristina from the hotel bar. They were two of the best members of staff we have ever met and provided genuine five-star service. They were professional, warm, attentive and made us feel very welcome. The housekeeping and reception teams were also very pleasant and helpful. Overall, we enjoyed our holiday because of the excellent staff, but considering the small room and the high additional cost of accessing the beach, we do not feel the hotel itself offers a true five-star experience.

Excellent location, separated from its private beach by a narrow, 3-4 m promenade (pedestrian/bicycles only). Great shopping, restaurants only a 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Everything very clean, welcoming and pleasant/friendly atmosphere. Nothing was too much for the staff. Check-in, again, couldn't be more friendly, check-out very efficient with good explanation of all cost. We used 2 communicating rooms. Spacious, clean and all the amenities you would expect. Of course nicely cleaned every day, with eyes for sustainability. The rooms have stone floors. A little bit noisy, for yourselves, when you move f.e. chairs. At no time did we hear noice from other rooms. In the other parts of the hotel, inside and outside, nicely quiet. Must admit that our 2 little ones produced noice above the average. My wife has many food allergies. She was assigned a dedicated person who looked after her for the whole stay. Our 2 little grandchildren were very fond of another staff member. He made fun with them and elevated their stay to a high level. The private beach was extraordinary. Entering was very inviting. We had the pleasure using a gazebo, that allowed having enough shade and room to rest for the little ones. Restaurants of high quality, both in the main building and on the beach. Good choice and excellent wine cards. The hotel has its price, but absolutely worth every euro, when you look for quality and great service for your stay.

We spent 4 nights there in mid/late September. The hotel and the area surrounding was very quiet, little atmosphere, even though it was still more than warm enough to sun-bathe. Very spacious and clean rooms, though choose a SOUTH facing room to maximise sunshine on the balcony. (They obligingly moved us on request). Breakfast was ok but certainly not 5-star. The hot offering was extremely poor and their orange juice was not freshly squeezed. There were very few restaurants open in the immediate area so we really had to decide to go half board but the dinner offering each night had no variety, eg the secondo piatti was fish, veal, steak or vegetarian, just given a different title each night. There was only a choice of two apertivi each evening. The dining room is huge so the dozen or so diners each night lost in the expanse. You would really need to research other restaurants in the area but those on the seafront appear to be just cocktail bars. The hotel B&B rate we felt was good value but the charge of €35 per night for parking is extortionate. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall, we would rate it as quite a good 4-star, though only 3-star for food.

The entire team is incredibly professional, polite, and genuinely caring. They made us feel welcome and looked after at every moment. The private beach club is perfectly in tune with the high standards of the hotel. Every part of the experience reflected quality, comfort, and class.
