Is it a nice hotel ? Yes is it great - most definitely no. I think they are keen for October to finish so they can close for the off season . Weeds everywhere . We had a spotlight blasting into our rooms for the 1st night (they did take it down upon request) . We ordered a non smoking room which it was but the people next door were smoking and it came directly into our room. Breakfast NOT 5 star standard - first two days no hot food and the last day we got to the restaurant at 8.30am and not one table was set up , most of the buffet was empty and the bacon and eggs that the finally cooked were cold and underdone . Wifi was excellent but for the price this hotel is Definitely not worth it . Swimming pool was average and the whole grounds needed some TLC

We visited Il Melograno for a couple of days after our wedding in Puglia. At first, the hotel felt too quiet for us after the hustle and bustle of our wedding but we got used to the tranquility! It's old fashioned in a way but the staff and food/service is impeccable. For a relaxing stay with close proximity to Monopoli, this is a great place to stay. Good for families and couples. Lovely for lunch but when we stayed the restaurant was very quiet so decided to go in to the nearby towns instead. Food was excellent as was the service!

We'd booked for a three night stay. Unfortunately when we tried to use the bath in our bathroom (121) the water came up in our other shower room and so before we went to dinner we told reception. We were told the plumbing can be a problem after heavy rain. During our meal reception said that the problem couldn't be sorted that night and might spread to our other room (118) but we could move to their sister hotel La Peschiera. We agreed to move for all three nights rather than come back and we very much enjoyed La Peschiera. However judging from our meal in the restaurant and what we saw of the hotel it seems to be pleasant.

Situated outside the small town of Monopoli. I suspect there is no public transport nearby so you will a car or use a taxi. Good parking. Friendly, helpful staff who speak relatively good English. Developed from an old masseria (think that is how you spell it) - an Italian fortified house. Delightful grounds full of many very old Olive trees and fruit trees. In door and outdoor swimming pools. Spa. First class and interesting menu. Recently stayed 3 nights and attended a wedding reception held at the hotel. First class.not cheap but worth every Euro.
