Hotel Quintessence in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada

Celebrated for their majestic beauty, Quebec's Laurentian Mountains provide a stunning backdrop for Hotel Quintessence. Tucked into the foot on Mont Tremblant, northwest of Montréal, this Old World boutique hotel was declared a "gem" in November 2004 by Town & Country. Decadently spacious suites, all with French doors that open onto private balconies or terraces, feature magnificent views of Lake Tremblant. Savor traditional specialties at Restaurant la Quintessence, sip a fine vintage in a secluded wine cellar turret and spoil yourselves with a massage at Spa Sans Sabots.

A destination this classic deserves activities to match. Witness the ritual sugaring of maple syrup, play a round on a nearby golf courses, visit the legendary Circuit Mont Tremblant or cruise the lake on the inn's circa 1910 33-foot motorboat. During cooler months the winter activities concierge will be happy to help you plan cross-country skiing, snow shoeing and dog-sledding. For an unforgettable experience, embark on an aerial tour over Lake Ouimet or visit Le Scandinave, offering Scandinavian baths, thermal falls and deer watching.

We arrived in the late afternoon close to 5pm so no problem checking in. When the attendant opened the door to our suite and I stepped inside I wasn't prepared for how wonderful it was. I believe all the rooms are suites so they are probably all alike. There was a lot of space. Starting from the balcony which was outside the seating area with the large stone fireplace (all set to be lit), the bed was behind this with desk in a nook with a window looking out at the lake - what a place to have to work! The bath area was enormous with stand alone tub, separate shower and toilet areas, and a large vanity. The lighting was really good in all areas with many lamps so it could be adjusted by need or mood. Plenty of storage, too. My big regret was that we arrived late and had to leave mid-morning to drive to Montreal to fly out. We enjoyed a very nice breakfast and took our time before departing. I doubt that we will be in this town again, but if so I would love another go 'round here.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights last month. It was during the shoulder season so the hotel and village were fairly quiet. First class service from the moment of arrival. Valet took the car and bags, concierge checked us in. All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful during our stay. The hotel has a very warm and friendly feel to it. The rooms are all suites. Very spacious, well appointed and immaculate. Large tub and large, separate walk-in shower. Working fireplace which is cozy. Large patio overlooking the lake. Had breakfast in the restaurant twice and lunch in the bar area. Décor of both is beautiful. Could choose the buffet or order off the menu for breakfast. Hotel is within 5 minutes of all parts of the village. But just enough separation to avoid all the traffic. Highly recommend.

We recently stayed, ate dinner and breakfast there. Everything was perfect! A short walk from Mont Tremblant village. Lovely vista of the lake. 5 star food that has many flavour treats in it that only an experience team of chefs and sous-chefs can deliver. Excellent service at every step of the way; from the moment we arrived, until we left the parking lot.

I have spent a weekend at this Hotel and really enjoyed the stay. I was a bit surprised about the check in being at 4 pm, first time I have experienced this but for the rest, we had a very pleasant time. The room is very spacious, staff very welcoming and good food in the restaurant. Views are to die for, directly on the lake with a beautiful spa and pool.

The overall stay was very satisfactory even though the weather was not in our favor. From the moment I walked in I felt at home and being looked after by the staff. The view over lake is gorgeous and I could do starring all day long. The fireplace in the room is a plus and made the atmosphere romantic. The bathroom amenities are nice. Everything is just perfect. Will definitely come back here.
