Located in a quiet and rather uninteresting little Italian village, this hotel offers accomodations for prices that are pretty steep to Italian standards. The room we had was located at the "rear" (N) of the hotel overlooking a narrow passage where the garbage was collected between 5 and 7 am. The room itself was not too large, equipped with a rather old fashioned bathroom that could do with some maintenance on the woodwork and painting. It allows for bathing and rather difficult showers. General hygiene is almost spotless. The hotel's underground parking (9 EUR/day) area is great and allows for luggage to be brought in (don't get lost !) without too much lifting, staff will help you. Not working however were the cards allowing access to the garage, nor was a connection to wifi possible (and that for 10 EUR/day !). The restaurant however makes up for a great deal and it really is a pleasure dining there. The dishes have excellent taste, are well stacked at reasonable prices for this quality of cooking. The wine list is extensive, well chosen but somewhat overpriced. Breakfast is of the buffet-type with sufficient choice. Appreciation is largely due to the quality of the food and drinks we had there !

The hotel is in a lovely hilltop town in the heart of Tuscany. The rooms were lovely. The manager opened the pool for us even though it was out of season. The pool was fabulous and so was the jacuzzi. Breakfast was hectic and ok. There are a number of good Osterias in the town serving amazing food. This was a wonderful base to see many wonderful areas Tuscany including Vinci, San Gianimano and Florence.

This beautiful, well-maintained hotel is perfectly placed to act as a touring base, e.g. for San Gimignano, Florence, Siena, Lucca & Pisa. We had a quirky room with a long balcony inside and out, which was cool and comfortable in the summer heat. The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful, and went the extra mile to ensure our comfort. Montaione is a pretty village with only two or three restaurants within walking distance. On our final night we had a free wine-tasting along with our evening meal, which was served to us in the hotel's ancient wine cellar - a magical memorable evening.

This was our base for a Travelsphere tour. The Hotel is extremely attractive with great character. The housekeeping standards were particularly good. Our room and ensuite were immaculate. Unfortunately this standard was not matched by the food offer and food service. It was hard to understand why there was only one pepper pot for 30+ people! and an extreme reluctance by waiters to let us use it. Despite tea pots in the breakfast room the tea bags ran out and were not replaced despite a request to a waitress.Such a shame that this beautiful historic building suffers from lacklustre management.

The hotel has two sides, one very modern superior rooms and one classic standard and superior rooms, although note, the hotel web site states what the hotel state as superior are actually classic, the hotel states if the room has a good view the room becomes superior.. the sides of the hotel are across the road from each other, but you do walk under the road in a very modern and high standard passage way. Reception is small with helpful staff. Breakfast is a help your self affair, some fresh fruit and some tinned, you help your self to ta and coffee, there are various yogurts, breads, cereals, etc, Italian bacon and sausage plus scrambled eggs. You can order more but there is an additional charge, I think the staff work hard but as there is only one member on for breakfast, it lacks anything being proactively being filled or replaced. You have to ask foe scrambled egg to be replaced etc, the chairs are a bit tired and some are stained but clean . We didn’t eat in the hotel restaurant as we ate locally, but the restaurant looks very different from breakfast, nicely set tables, fresh flowers etc. We stayed in room 305; a large, classic Tuscan dark furniture room, large bathroom with two sinks, view over the country side and tiles old roofs, the bathroom was a little tired, but clean, the bed was hard but fine who like a very firm mattress, you have to ask for soft pillows, but they were supplied quickly, housekeeping was good, asked for robes and these were brought quickly, shower gel, shower cap, vanity pack supplied. The room is quite dark as only one small window but characterful. The pool was well cared for, clean, new sun shades, but the covers on top of the sun beds were stained, easily covered by the orange pool towel you collect from reception, Water was freezing, not heated, but we stayed end of September. Be warned take mosquitoe repellent, we got badly bitten, We enjoyed our stay, the hotel is situated in a walled town, very safe, easy to get round, great restaurants, co op near by where you can park free of charge, great cake shop, get there early for the best cakes, a nice small piazza to drink coffee at a great rate €1.20 for coffee, Hotel is central so san gim, lucca, etc are very easy to reach Temperature was about 23 degrees C, cool in the evening,so needed a sweater. All in all an interesting and quirky hotel,a little dated and slow, but willing pleasent staff, only one that wasn’t and you always get one. Quite a romantic hotel ,but definitely not a four star. Near but not quite. I would however return. We loved it, but the church is near by and chimes hourly
