Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco in Montalcino, Si, Italy
Located within the UNESCO-listed Val d’Orcia in the Brunello di Montalcino wine-making region, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is a 5,000 acre country estate founded by Massimo and Chiara Ferragamo. The Italian resort is a celebration of the natural beauty and rich gastronomic heritage of Tuscany. The 800-year-old estate comprises the ancient castle ruins, a medieval church and the Borgo, a historic village that now forms the heart of the resort.
Housed in the buildings of the Borgo itself, the 23 suites exude harmony with antique furniture, genuine textiles and artisanal pieces. Created from restored 17th- and 18th-century farmhouses, ten luxury villas capture the changing moods of the landscape. The three- to six-bedroom villas all feature private heated pools and some offer a pool house, home theater or private tennis court. A superb culinary destination, Castiglion del Bosco features a leading Brunello di Montalcino winery, two restaurants, an organic vegetable garden and a cooking school. Designed by Tom Weiskopf, the estate’s breathtaking 18-hole golf course offers an unparalleled playing experience at Italy's only private golf club. A pampering spa, plentiful leisure facilities and a carefully curated selection of activities and excursions designed to highlight the region’s landscape and culture count among the offerings of this stylish world-class retreat.

Reviews for Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco
My husband and I stayed at the Rosewood in Tuscany to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. We couldn't have asked for a more delightful, enjoyable and romantic place to stay. We were located on the main property in a junior suite in the Borga building - perfect. The suite was appointed just right and we couldn't have asked for a better location - right near the restaurants and spa. And the staff was phenomenal. There are not enough words to describe how attentive and friendly they were. To Matteo in the kitchen for our cooking lesson where we learned to make all kinds of bread, to both Giuseppe's - everyone was incredible. The food was unforgettable. The chef's table meals were out of this world good. You have to pace yourself - there are at least seven courses - and you can't eat everything off your plate or you will literally explode. But you have to participate. Our stay was at the tail end of their season - mid-November - so it was too cool to swim, but great for hiking the estate and you have to try the truffle hunting - ask to go to Valentino's farm. And book early. It's a popular activity. But so much fun! And then you get to eat the most delicious truffle dinner. Unforgettable! The estate has its own winery and is famous for Brunello wines - all of them delicious. The weather was cool enough for a fire, so every night was spent in the lobby of our building cuddling up in front of a roaring fire. Or outside with the heaters going. Even then, your given olives, nuts and an assortment of cheese and salami to enjoy with the vintage of your choice. The village of Montalcino is on a hill and you're able to see it from the property. We took a tour - be prepared for steep hills. It is not a place to visit for anyone with knee issues. There are some shops there, but there is more of a variety of small boutique stores in the neighboring village of Pienza. We had a delicious lunch there at a small restaurant recommended by our guide. It was charming and had lots of locals. The spa at the Rosewood is quite small and was the only part of the resort that was slightly disappointing. I was looking forward to a nice steam, but the ladies locker room doesn't have one and the spa only offers a small closet-like steam room that has to be reserved. My husband and I both got massages that were great and totally relaxing. Overall, Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco is heaven on earth. Everything you've ever heard about Tuscany is absolutely true - the romance, the magic, the relaxed and carefree way of living - and the Rosewood is the perfect way to experience it. Go. Go immediately.

We did not have a bad meal in Tuscany. This was no exception. We ordered multiple dishes and all were very good. Service was very friendly. Would return if we ever get back. Would recommend the house the house wines. But then again Tuscany wines were all good.

We stayed here for three nights and never left the property. We would have been happy to stay A LOT longer. There was a lot to do and we never got to everything.... We toured the winery and did an extended tasting, hiked around the property, had spa treatments and ate in the restaurants. We were there for a special family occasion and the hotel staff made sure that everything was perfect! I would happily travel the distance to visit this extraordinary resort again.

Castiglion del bosco is a very special hotel. It manages to be both intimate and private at the same time. The service is incredibly friendly and the facilities are world class. It is not a large "hotel" rather a gorgeous, small "village". The two restaurants were both excellent. The pool service was great and the whole experience was incredibly relaxing. You are a bit cut off from the rest of the world, so if you want to head into Siena etc. you need to allow an hour each way.
