Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco in Montalcino, Si, Italy
Located within the UNESCO-listed Val d’Orcia in the Brunello di Montalcino wine-making region, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is a 5,000 acre country estate founded by Massimo and Chiara Ferragamo. The Italian resort is a celebration of the natural beauty and rich gastronomic heritage of Tuscany. The 800-year-old estate comprises the ancient castle ruins, a medieval church and the Borgo, a historic village that now forms the heart of the resort.
Housed in the buildings of the Borgo itself, the 23 suites exude harmony with antique furniture, genuine textiles and artisanal pieces. Created from restored 17th- and 18th-century farmhouses, ten luxury villas capture the changing moods of the landscape. The three- to six-bedroom villas all feature private heated pools and some offer a pool house, home theater or private tennis court. A superb culinary destination, Castiglion del Bosco features a leading Brunello di Montalcino winery, two restaurants, an organic vegetable garden and a cooking school. Designed by Tom Weiskopf, the estate’s breathtaking 18-hole golf course offers an unparalleled playing experience at Italy's only private golf club. A pampering spa, plentiful leisure facilities and a carefully curated selection of activities and excursions designed to highlight the region’s landscape and culture count among the offerings of this stylish world-class retreat.

Reviews for Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco
I am writing you on behalf of the Lewis family, regular fans of CdB from the U.S. They thoroughly enjoyed their recent stay last week and wanted to share their gratitude for the ENTIRE team who helped make their vacation absolute perfection. A few names they want to mention.... Serena for assisting with the wine tasting bookings and sharing her knowledge and passion of grapes, Augustino the bartender for creating unique experiences for them, Carolina at the wine club for all of her assistance, Philippo for the wine tasting excursions, and Stefano for all food and beverage related requests and needs. Overall, the entire family was delighted with their entire stay and absolutely devastated to leave, however, they are counting down until their return in April of 2018. Grazie mille!

If you can't be happy here there is a problem. The resort is amazing. The views stunning in every direction. The most amazing heated pool to look out to the views. The people are so nice- the reception, the restaurants, the pool. We had a suite which was very large, nice bathroom. We took 2 amazing cooking classes- pasta and pizza- with Mattea who was so nice and a great chef. The food was great at both restaurants. We had a driver through the hotel take us to Montalcino for dinner one night and to Montelpuciano another day- its nice not to have to worry about directions and parking- and can have a few glasses of wine. This is a great resort in a magical place. It can be expensive when you add up all the extras but worth it. All the staff we met were so nice and kind I hope to return.

The Castiglion del Bosco is a very special property. It has amazing views, beautiful accommodations, and fresh fare. We arrived with no car so we were limited to property activities and enjoyed a nice hike, a spa visit, and the winery tour. We had arranged for mountain bikes but alas there are only fire roads on the property--no bike trails--and after much ado the bikes did not fit us. The winery tour was exceptional but they sold us wines that we were told were similarly priced in the US only to find out after purchase & delivery that we were seemingly charged double the cost they are here. The food is exceptionally fresh--straight from the beautiful garden--and breakfast is included in the room. Beware that Italians do not drink tap water, and a bottle of water at Castiglion del Bosco restaurant is SEVEN EURO each bottle. Lastly, we asked for an iron so my husband could smooth out his shirt but we were told it is against their rule and they offered to iron for him. He sent 2 shirts and was charged in the neighborhood of 25 Euro. My advice would be to visit the property, have a meal, & tour the winery.
