A return visit and can't praise the management and staff too highly. Everyone friendly, welcoming and helpful- including the golf club ( receptionists, management, supervisors, security staff and of course our wonderful caddy). The Hotel senior management very welcoming and taking time to explain the current new building programme in detail. A really enjoyable holiday.

I was in need of a last minute Christmas gift. I was apprehensive of traveling to the Caribbean after all the destruction last year. Jamaica was one place that was not affected and reachable by Southwest Air from my home airport. My wife and I do not like the All Inclusives. Overpriced and under deliver...but that's another story. I looked into Jamaica for non all inclusives. Based on travelers reviews, Half Moon looked like a winner. The more I read, the more I liked. Before we left, we heard about the State of Emergency in Jamaica due to murders and violence. Oh boy. We were also informed by the hotel about their current construction going on. Oh boy #2. I kept these facts to myself hoping for the best. The flight was early, we went to the Half Moon reception area in the airport, jumped into their shuttle and were are the hotel in 10 minutes. We checked in with rum punch handed to us, got our room keys and were not heading to our Junior Suite, but to one of the Hibiscus Suites. The room was spectacular. Huge! Two wall mount TVs huge. The bathroom was the size of most hotel rooms. A nice sitting area with couch, two chairs, mini bar and a very large balcony with the ocean just a few feet away. I had a hard time getting my wife to leave the room, it was that good. So my fears about violence and hotel construction seemed to work in my favor. No traffic on the road or at the airport and available rooms to be upgraded to. Tips for those of you thinking of going here. 1. Very quick trip from the airport. Return trip pickup was 2 hours before our flight. No crazy 4 hour airport lines like other islands. 2. No Time Share salesmen in the airport. No pressure sales. 3. We did not see any locals peddling stuff on the beach. 4. We did not see many people on the's a huge long beach the meanders in and out, around palm trees with lots of places to drag a few chairs to be almost isolated. There is a main beach near the bar/restaurant/water toys that is more populated. 5. We were there 5 nights and paid for our meals as we went. We had light breakfasts (coffee, danish, fruit), sit down lunches (sandwich platter and wine) and a sit down dinner each night (Seagrapes 3 nights, Italian place 1 night, Sugar Mill 1 night). We also had about 2 to 3 drinks a day at the beach or from the bar. We ended up spending about $1600 on food. We did not pick any all inclusive options that they offered. 6. The pools (located behind the suites) were much more hot and humid than being on the beach. It could be that the buildings are blocking the ocean breezes. You can't see the ocean from the pools. 7. The only time I saw the construction was when I went for a jog heading towards the villas area. It's all cordoned off and you would not know it's going on if you didn't walk right up to it. 8. They have a shopping area with a small grocery store. They will shuttle you to it. Most all the stores are empty due to a new "mall" area opening near by, but there was one store open that we bought some wine from. A bottle of Josh was $29 at the little store. A comparable bottle of Rodney Strong was $90 at the hotel restaurant. FYI. 8. If you sign up a spa session (massage, or some other treatment) you then get to use the spa amenities for the rest of your week. They have a 160 degree sauna and a steam room, locker room and a nice pool with waterfall etc. Book early in your trip and you can return all week.

As we have for the past 7 years, the 11 members of our family (ages 11 to 79) spent two weeks in December in a Villa at Half Moon. We begin to plan for our Jamaica time when we depart in January and begin in August to count the months and days until we return We have been fortunate enough to have the same wonderful staff to take care of us for the past five years: Ferdie Sims, our butler; Linette Henry, our cook; and Pamela Grey, our maid. They have become our Half Moon Family. After our first year, I reported to my friends that it was a once in a lifetime experience...Fortunately that has not proven to be the case. A family vacation at a Half Moon Villa has something for everyone: water sports, beach lounging, sun, shade, sand, golf, teen activities, tennis, squash, a well equipped gym, a lovely spa, home cooking and restaurant food, solitude if you want it and opportunities for together time. Our stay was enhanced by the attention of Shernette Crichton, the Director of Resort Operations, who was available to deal with any special requests we might have. Happily we will return in December, 2018.

We're not beach people but wanted to go somewhere warm away from the cold NY winter. Half Moon was just the spot. Only a 3 1/2 flight and a 15 drive to the hotel made it an easy trip. Everything about the Half Moon made it a great 4 day stay. Every one of the staff was warm and helpful. I needed to go to the local hospital for a throat infection and the nurse on the property was extremely helpful in getting my medication and following up with me. We stayed in the Hibscus Suite on the 2nd floor. We had one of the few suites with a door between the liviing room and bedroom. The suite was beautifully decorated and sitting on the patio made it seem that were right at the beach minus the sand! Only one complaint was a dinner for 30 people set up on the beach in front of our row of suites. It lasted til 10:30pm and was an unpleasant distraction and noise. Otherwise the breakfast was a vast selection ahd the Mill restaurant was expensive but a beautiful outdoor treat. There is noise from construction near the site but otherwise quiet. I hope the expansion doesn't spoil the lovely intimate feeling of the place.

We LOVED our stay at Half Moon Bay Resort. We rented a 5 bedroom villa, with chef, butler and maid. It was INCREDIBLE!! We loved Jason, our Butler, who did anything and everything for us. He completely spoiled us! We had the most amazing chef, Denise, who made the most incredible Jamaican dishes. We will be dreaming of her Festival and Dumplings when we get home! Rumor has it she cooked for Prince Harry! Karen made sure our rooms were clean and our laundry done. All of them made our trip memorable and seamless. Perfect place for a large group, as we didn’t have to worry about dinner reservations or cooking our own food. We stayed in for all but a couple of meals. We also had a wonderful experience at the spa. My husband says that Wendy gave him the best massage he’s ever had! Highly recommend taking advantage of the spa! All in all a great place to visit!
