We came to the half moon resort for a weekend trip from Miami and to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday. It's only a 1.5 hour flight and then a 15 minute ride from the airport. When we walked in we knew it was good to be an amazing stay. You are escorted through a lush front gate and are greeted by an enormous open air lobby with a colonial style feel. They will give you a delicious rum punch welcome drink. We were really early so they gave us a hospitality suite so we could change into our swimsuits and chill out. You can rent bikes, play croquet, tennis, or rent kayaks and paddle boards near the main beach. There is also a world class golf course and free mini golf to practice your put. We had dinner at the Sugar Mill restaurant and it was really a great birthday treat. The waiters and waitresses are all so nice. If you travel in August or September then you get a nice room reduction because it is low season. We came in August so it was hot and humid but not unbearable. They have air conditioned rooms so it doesn't really matter. Highly highly recommend to come to this place with family, friends or as couples!

Another wonderful hotel in Jamaica. Everything you could want is here. All the rooms and villas are incredible. Wonderful views, large clean room. Fantastic balconies to relax on. The resort is clean, the staff friendly, the bar and restaurants are superb. Free coffee and tea in the morning was a great touch. I was here for business so did not really get to use the whole resort. However this is a great place to come to unwind after a busy day. The beach was clean and private. From what i understand the place is being shut down for a few months in Sept/Oct for complete rennovations, but it did not seem like it needed it. I woudl absolutely stay here again.

Our group of 11 family and friends (ages 12 - 52) stayed in Villa 89 (Almanda), Aug. 7 - 10, 2017. From the time we checked in to departure, we were treated extremely well. Our staff in our villa were Merlene, Venrise, and Denise. We can not say enough about them. They catered to our every need. They were extremely friendly and became like family during our stay. Merlene kept everything spotless and made sure our laundry was taken care of. Venrise is the man! He made sure our experience at Half Moon was awesome. He made grocery runs for us, scheduled our trip to Dunn's River Falls, and like the other staff catered to our every need. Denise, Denise, Denise. If you are ever at Half Moon and stay in a villa, please request Denise to cook for you. OMG she made meal time the best part of our trip. It was wonderful to sit on the patio during breakfast and dinner and share a wonderful meal with our family and friends. Denise's bread pudding was a daily request as well as Venrise's Rum Punch :-) . We are so glad that we chose Half Moon for our vacation spot this year. There's nothing we regret about our stay. Although the property is 400 acres, we had two golf carts to get us around. Our own pool at the villa was also nice. I can not wait to go back with some of our married friends in the future. Half Moon, please tell Merlene, Venrise, and Denise that we miss them :-)

We stayed here for 5 nights in room 1054 and 1052 which where lovely just facing the sea, sun loungers where just on the beach , plenty of them but they have no umbrella so you had to find shade under the coconuts palms and you had to be careful that nothing fell as it can get windy , the staff where very friendly couldn't do enough , beds where comfortable , free internet and you also got free bikes to ride around the resort , breakfast was good a buffet and you could have lunch and dinner , there where other restaurants on site but the main was the sugar mill which was nice and had strict code for the men no tailor shorts only long trousers , the place was closing for a month in sept as it was getting very tatty , the only disappointment was there meal plan which was very confusing there was an American plan which was $130 which include all the food but no drink or the other plan which was $165 which included the drink , bills were very confusing as on the main bill when leaving you didn't see the any of the $130 just different amounts I kept all the receipts but couldn't make head or tails I think if we stayed again I wouldn't go on any meal plan as sometimes we didn't have any lunch as the breakfast was filling ,

My husband and I came for our anniversary. We stayed in the Hibiscus suite. Upon our arrival, the lobby and rooms are showing a lot of wear and are in desperate need of updating. The A/C was not cold even though we had it on the coldest setting. There was barely any cold air coming out of the vents. We called the front desk and they sent maintenance but all he could confirm is that it was working. We both had spa treatments which were ok, but very expensive. The spa facility is under renovation, the temporary facility is awful. It is a bunch of old cottages with rooms they use. No lockers, sauna, steam room, indoor jacuzzi, as you would expect at a luxury spa. The pedicure chair was right outside the room I was getting a massage, they were talking the majority of the time, so I could not relax. We asked when the renovations would be done to the spa and were told by the front desk they did not know. BTW - we did not see any renovations going on. The food was ok, nothing special, expensive, and there were only a few restaurants to go to. I would say the one good thing was the staff. They were very pleasant. We came for the Half Moon reputation but it just did not live up to a 5 star resort. Sorry, I am not sure I would come back.
