I stayed in a huge single room, while my son and his wife stayed in a similar separate room, both rooms overlooking and in close proximity to the ocean, and it was divine, and beyond anything I could have dreamed of. The location of the property is supremely lush and extraordinarily beautiful, just what I imagined Eden would be, simply gorgeous. The service, politeness and friendliness of all the staff Is unparalleled. I was given a tour of the Villas ideal for families and the ensemble was gorgeously appointed. The entire experience still feels like a wonderful dream.

I was supposed to stay 3 nights and we left after one night. No TV in the room. The rule for men to wear pants and collar shirt after 7 PM is definetely not appropriate with the current weather in Jamaica. The prices related to the breakfast, dinner and other beverages is just outrageous. This is supposed to be a relaxing hotel but you will have the chance to listen the loud music coming from the private villas around the resort. Never ever.

Round Hill is one of those places that one is reluctant to tell others about as it is so special. There is the temptation to keep the secret to oneself! Alas, some recent high profile visitors have brought it into the public spotlight once again, so the secret is out! The secluded location on the edge of Montego Bay and extensive well kept grounds provide a secure and beautiful holiday backdrop. The excellent (yet unobtrusive) staff provide for each individual need whether at the beach or pool or bar or restaurant or elsewhere. The reputation for food is well deserved including complimentary afternoon tea (or coffee etc.) The restaurant staff will help with a recommendation of local dishes to sample for the adventurous. Each room is individual in layout, design and view as are each of the villas dotting the grounds if you want extra privacy. I enjoyed the excellent spa and left so chilled out. There are lots of water based activities - some of our party went banana boating and used the floating trampoline - others used the sports or fitness facilities - or you can just laze by the pool reading books, sunbathing or drinking or nibbling on a fruit kebab (highly recommended)! It is amazing to take a trip in the glass bottomed boat to see what lurks beneath the water and the steps being taken to protect the corals etc. Before breakfast teams of workers are quietly going about their business cleaning and carrying out repairs to keep the resort looking impeccable. One morning they were painting an already pristine white wall to ensure all looked perfect for a wedding later in the week! There was musical and other entertainment every evening. Round Hill is one of those holiday destinations in which to unwind totally. If possible I should like to return sometime. Our party included those from 9 to 90 and each was treated to individual and impeccable service!

We had villa 85A, which is a one bedroom cottage with a private pool. It is nothing short of spectacular. The living room faces the small private pool and the view continues out to the sea, and the bedroom has two walls of windows looking out onto the pool and the sea. The pool and cottage interior are completely invisible from outside, so you can skip the swimsuit if that's how you roll (but don't forget to hang the do not disturb sign). The pool is deep, at least 5' deep in the center, but there are great spots to sit built in to the side. The bed is big, comfortable, four poster. Frette linens and towels. The only thing I wanted for was hair conditioner, which oddly is not provided, though they do provide bug spray, lotion, shampoo, shower gel, soap, and aloe gel. Go figure! The property is similarly lovely. They clean the seaweed from the beach and small, super calm swimming/wading area daily. You can snorkel right there, and you also have use of their stand-up paddle boards, sunfish sailboat, kayaks, etc. Lovely beach bar with delicious cocktails. The restaurant is great, and while I was a little tired of eating there by the end of the trip (the menu changes fairly regularly), there isn't much else that's worthy in the surrounding area. We took a drive to Negril and ate at Rockhouse which was nice, but maybe not worth the two hour drive. We loved this trip, and would gladly go back for a long weekend of genteel surroundings and peace and quiet. Didn't try the spa, but it looked lovely. Workout area and outdoor yoga pavilion are really really well outfitted and beautiful.

It's a nice resort but it can use a renovation. It may have been fantastic maybe ten years ago but the villas and the pool/beach area could use a face lift. The doors have paint chipping and the toilet was a bit rickety. The thing that stands apart is the staff. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they do pride themselves in the service they provide. You see them working hard every morning cleaning out the pools (just of the natural debris from the trees and such) and trying to maintain the vast hotel grounds. They try to be helpful and offer help when they can. I just wish the hotel itself was as nice. Also, the food is a bit disappointing. I read that it's an award winning chef so I was surprised that the food wasn't great. Especially the breakfast. They offer a breakfast buffet (with tax and service charge it's about $35) but the choices are quite slim. I do recommend the coconut pancakes though. Overall, for the price (its very expensive), I think there must be other resorts you can stay at in Montego Bay that's better priced, with better food and more recent.
