My 16-year old daughter and I just returned from a fabulous 5-night stay at Round Hill. It was such a wonderfully relaxing get-away. From the moment we stepped onto the resort to the moment we drove away, we felt a friendly, warm Jamaican vibe. Round Hill has by far the friendliest staff of any resort we've ever visited. You cannot help but enjoy yourself when the people around you seem happy. Our ocean-view room was picture-perfect. Clean and simple with a stunning view. The pool area is beautiful with another gorgeous view. Overall the food was quite good - wonderful fresh snapper and lovely organic arugula. We loved the smoothie bar at breakfast. We also loved that they brought out fresh fruit (chocolate covered banana!) while you're out sunbathing. The complimentary daily high tea was also a nice treat. And a special shout-out to our fabulous yoga instructor, Donovan. We look forward to returning to Round Hill. It's laid-back, quiet elegance with a warm Jamaican smile.

What a wonderful place. The six of us traveled to celebrate our friend's seventieth birthday. From the moment we entered the lobby, we were treated like royalty. The service was impeccable, the villa amazing, the food delicious, the grounds beautiful and our team of Jean, Junior and Norris truly wonderful. My friend had the best birthday ever because of this place and I would recommend it highly. Memories are made here

My stay at Round Hill embraced me with: love, gratitude, luxury, nature, beauty, art and consciousness. I woke up inspired to write, for the first time in months, and I did. When I was escorted up, and up again, to my cottage, I felt layers of breeze come up across the sea, over the cushions on the lounge chairs where the balcony of the treehouse promises a meeting with the sea, down through the trees that shelter my private pool, through the invitingly open windows and doors, across the lamp reminiscent of subtle Greek precious metals and to the living area where I stood with lilting Caribbean opulence. I took a very deep breath and maintained a certain calm which remains with me, days after departure. Upstairs. Ah. Upstairs. A high bed overlooking the sea, with four high posts, many perfect pillows, protective white coverings to be drawn around in the nights, and two wooden head rests carved to resemble pineapples. I pay attention to the other offerings that are available for my protection. I am shown to a safe and guided how to use it then I receive instructions for how to close the doors and windows, then how to use the air conditioning. I appreciate all of this because I like to know how I can get on with simple things myself. I wouldn't want to have someone on call to fan mosquitoes away from me when I could simply use a spray and protect myself. I would not want to have to call someone to help me with the fixtures when I could sort it myself while enjoying more privacy. Later on I realised that the grounds are fogged in the evening to discourage insects, and I also had handy insect repellants and aloe vera gel in the bathrooms so I could truly coexist with nature. I had no need to use the insect repellant and the only creature I didn't realize was still within the protective layer of my bed was a butterfly who was, I expect, quite pleased when I woke up and saw to its freedom. There are bath areas instead of bathrooms only, which always fills me with joy. There was a regular full bathroom downstairs. Upstairs, there was a room with a bath, and with spectacular views. The rooms adjacent to that room have a shower only or a toilet only. I love a room that is dedicated to the bath experience. The Elemis products were quite gentle and worked marvellously with my eczema. I love spending time in such a natural space where my skin is as happy as I am. Usually I have to be a bit precious about going barefoot, but not here. I felt exquisitely grounded and feeling the varied textures under my feet was très magnifique. It was a pleasant surprise that I could walk from my bedroom straight outside and go down to the pool, and come up and use that secluded outside shower while staring past the foliage into the soul of the sea. Also, I could take a right, from my bed, and go straight outside, instead of using the stairs inside or the ones straight ahead. I really enjoy having alternative routes to aspects of paradise. For tea, the desserts were naturally decadent and I noted a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie was an option. I did not try it. I am just happy to see that people are catered to. There was the sound of happy children indulging in life and their natural curiosity was monitored by their parents or nannies. I love when parents look after themselves, spend time with their children, but also have space away from them too. Some families were enjoying the watersports and what a joy it is to see families having fun together in nature; it makes the whole world seem at peace. For literary bliss, there is a library. It has the warm and wooden hues that are reminiscent of twilight, to the extent that a return to the sunshine outside is almost like the discovery of a knot during a massage. The dense collection has some old and some new books and they are neatly arranged. Also the smell of books, is the usual sort of pleasant. The unusual and memorable part of experiencing this library is that it is all next to the mists of the sea. For health, my visit to the spa, the yoga pavilion, and the fitness centre were all filled with enticing observations, even the gorgeous path from the tea area to that side of the property, but I did not use any of the services; I sat outside on various things and just felt the breeze washing over me. I loved being there. I think it would be stirring to exercise with a view of the ocean, I just felt more inclined to sit and relax. For art, there was an exhibition. I cannot tell you much about the cocktails, except that there was bruschetta available, because I am not enamoured with alcohol. I liked a piece called "Blue". I also liked some framed pieces which focused on specific states of being. There was also a rather imposing replica of a giraffe. For dinner, I was appropriately seated at a table for one and while I enjoyed the food, the dulcet tones of the musicians, the sight of some teenagers with sartorial elegance who kissed their parents on the forehead before excusing themselves, and the sounds of the sea, I was induced to smile wholeheartedly by the perfect balance that Aewan struck in being attentive and giving me space to enjoy my food. For breakfast, Alvira's pleasant presence when necessary, and absence when convenient for me, were as appreciated as the fresh fruits, flowers, and flawless breakfast. I have a lovely rich brown complexion and I was consistently delighted to observe that the staff members who look like me had dignity instead of servility. I support FairTrade, a Living Wage, The Woodland Trust, Cruelty Free products etc. and vacations where the people who make my life even more pleasant seem to be treated well at work. For departure, I spoke with Menseita, the lady whose voice on the phone further nurtured my interest in this place and ultimately caused me to choose it despite several alternatives. I was at a loss to express my gratitude to her for her role in my wonderful experience at Round Hill. My favourite part of England is Oxfordshire, my favourite part of the United States is Boston/Maine. I am Jamaican, I adore myself and I have a good heart. I enjoyed sharing space with people who are also Jamaicans, or foreign, with good hearts who love themselves. I understood everything that everyone said and it was all One Love. I am grateful to everyone, even some whose names I am not able to recall at the moment. A gentleman at the cottage who greeted me with gusto after I opened the upstairs doors, while he attended to the pool downstairs. A member of security who graciously assisted me when I lost my way a bit at night after being drunk on curried shrimp and happiness. Carmen, who came to say goodbye. Junior, who led me to the cottage initially, then asked why I walked down the next day instead of sending for someone to get me as he saw me walking about. The good people at the front desk, including Ann-Marie. Josef, who signed my welcome letter, expressed gratitude for my visit, and created an environment where I felt safe and happy. The gentleman who collects towels from the chairs on the lawn areas in front of the spa who assured me that I could stay as long as I like, with a lot of kindness. My new favourite part of Jamaica is Round Hill. I don't need to go back ... I feel sustainably rejuvenated ... but I intend to. If you are a compassionate person whose compassion includes yourself, and you have a penchant for luxury, I recommend Round Hill to you most ardently. xo~ Camille

Our second visit to Roundhill Initially booked into ocean front room but although delightful location and spacious rooms do note that the sound insulation between rooms is limited plus you are aware of a lot of staff traffic behind the rooms and noise from beach , however this needs to be balanced by direct ocean and beach views plus excellent access to bar /restaurant So we spoke to reception and paid to move to a pineapple villa suite , a whole different world , for the majority of our stay we had the entire villa to ourselves ( villa 18) and our dedicated area was a spacious double bedroom plus large bathroom and huge veranda with large sitting room area plus dining with direct access to the large pool and hot tub , along with pretty ocean views . This villa is convenient, an easy walk to the main property and beach , however unlike other luxury hotels we have stayed at ( i.e. The Datai ) Roundhill don't use electric buggies so the constant coming and going of buggies is a tad irritating . As well as being a super property we also enjoyed meals cooked by Irene , a charming and accomplished cook , along with her house staff The main restaurant is also enjoyable and the beach setting for the Caribbean night delightful The spa and gym are also world class Overall a fabulous destination, tho be aware of LOTS of children ( we visited at the beginning of the Easter holiday ) plus aircraft noise . But let's face it perfection is nigh on impossible, this place gets pretty close .
