Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa

We traveled here with our five month old baby and found the staff, location, and amenities to be wonderful. As new parents, staff in the hotel and the restaurants were so friendly and welcoming. Also, the room service offerings were delicious. As for the location, We loved being on the ocean and beating able to easily walk outside and stroll down cannery row. We will definitely be back!

The location, being on the water was stunning. From the patio, calm crashing waves, sparkling water, views across the Monterey Bay to the dunes in Marina. We had coffee watching kayakers, otters, birds flying. It was a special morning but I always enjoy the Monterey Bay marine layer of fog when it rolls in too. The atmosphere inside was elegant and family friendly, the piano player was a personal favorite. My friends looked to see who makes the mattresses because they slept so well, it was very comfortable, I even noticed how pleasant the smell was inside the lobby. Everything was really nice. I appreciated how clean the property was, the attention to detail seemed to me to be very high, nothing was out of place. I was happy to be spending my time and money there. I have years of experience in hospitality and an appreciation for when I am made to feel special and appreciated as a visitor. Hilary Morgan made all four of us feel like the entire facility and staff had been waiting for arrival. Hilary spent time to ask what had brought us together there, which was fun for us to share. She provided details of where and what the Monterey Plaza has available to us, and took a few extra moments to make sure we were all set with our stay. There was certainly an extra special effort to make us feel more than welcome, that’s what I will remember most. During our last morning I watched her share the same professionalism with another guest, it was impressive. Our stay could not have been better. This seems hyped up, but this was easy to write. Excellent experience to host friends. We loved it

My third stay here though the first two were over thirty years ago. That hotel then was fantastic, what it morphed into lost its magic. It’s adequate but I do not see the value for the cost. The one asset is our balcony over the bay. Why anyone would stay here without that, I can’t imagine. The front desk is impersonal, the food is below average. Cleaning ladies were sweet - they always are. Room amenities were solid. Pretty good location. But again, it’s not worth what they are charging.

It was fantastic, mostly because it’s consistent. We stay 3-4 times a year, and always find the level of service very good, the spa always very good and many times see the same staff, which is nice.
