If I owned this place, I'd lower the prices and try to make money per volume rather than the current model: high prices/low volume. The price doesn't reflect what you get. Overall, the place is tired but doesn't seem to know it. The bones are there for something pretty cool as the campus is vast - separate pools, a restaurants, night club, pretty lake views. We visited for the Renaissance Festival, of which they advertise being the official hotel of the event. However, another entity actually runs the shuttle service for the Festival and it is a poorly ran. They could surely do so much more to support the Festival that they advertise being a part of.

Overpriced suite for what it is... We stayed in one of the 20th floor suites and for a $450+ per night stay I expected more. The suite was spacious but for that much I expected a small kitchen; at minimal a sink. Or a wine opener. There was a small refrigerator and that’s it. For that much we can rent a full house on the lake but wanted to try this resort due to the height for New Years fireworks. I understand it’s off season and they were effected by the hurricane but some of the concerns could have been resolved easily. The balcony was littered with bird feces. Not just small bird droppings but huge person size droppings everywhere. We could not access the balcony due to the hurricane potential damage but there is no reason to not have that cleaned by professionals. It was a disgusting view. The staff was very professional and nice during check in. Getting our car into and out of valet was cumbersome. The valet staff was very nice and they were running their toosh off to keep up with the the pace. I was told when making the reservation that the water park was under repair; which was not a concern because I knew the temp was going to be in the low 30s. It looks like it will be really nice during the season. It just seems there were not prepared to be booked during off season! I think it will be a nice place this summer when they are ready for guests. (Minus not having a tiny kitchen, I would only rent a standard room next time. I would never rent one of their suites again! Suites are way overpriced for what they are.)

I've been to this resort before. This weekend, I wasn't happy with my stay in the cottage. The room had a weird order smell, we had to go out and buy Lysol to mask the smell. The bed was uncomfortable and the heater didn't work.

Stayed three nights. During my stay the room was never cleaned or made up much less touched. I got severely bit while sleeping at night and scratched all night long. I've stayed in this location before and had a bad experience as well but decided to give it a second chance .

Let me first start off by saying, you have to have the right expectations going in. I knew when booking this resort for our conference it was not the Ritz. I allowed myself zero expectations going into it. I was in charge of planning our National Sales Meeting for my company (only 80 people but still a task when everyone is traveling from out of state). The staff from start to finish was wonderful. Meghan and her sales staff were professional and very helpful in answering any questions I had. Lacey delivered on all of her promises and more. I also could not have been more pleased with Theresa our event coordinator and Jay the A/V guy. They were amazing and extremely helpful and willing to work with me on some of my odd requests. This was hands down the best National meeting our group has done and I owe all the thanks to the staff. Again, I had to clear my mind and go in with no expectations. I was most nervous about our check in. Everyone in the group was arriving between 9am and 12pm with the conference starting at 1pm. I am pleased to say that the front desk staff was armed and ready and was able to get everyone checked in in a very timely and seamless manner. Not one person was late to the meeting. My kudos goes to the staff on making this happen and making me look like a rock star in the eyes of my boss. I truly thank you. The rooms in the tower are spacious and served their purpose. They were a safe place for me to sleep and get ready each day. I did not hear of any major issues in any of the rooms. Were there some things I would have liked to have seen different, sure. I also know that it is impossible to please everyone and with such a huge site it is hard to see all the little details all the time. The meetings went off without any major issues. We had a wonderful awards dinner the first night and the food was fantastic. We decided on a two protein plated meal (Chicken and Steak). The service staff was great and everyone had a nice time. Day two consisted of a general session and multiple break outs. Again the staff did everything as planned with no faults. The second evening was a BLAST! I was so pleased with how our Big Texas Western (with Live Country band) turned out. The resort was able to see my vision through of having a Texas backyard BBQ complete with tailgate games (ladder ball, corn hole, washers, etc.), fire pits and s'mores. Everyone had a great time (including the staff :) ). Day 3 there were just a few minor technical difficulties but the audio visual team was there to rescue me and went above and beyond to make sure no one else knew there was even an issue. If you are planning a conference I would suggest looking at their CMP packages. This was definitely a steal and I was able to beat my budget allowing me to do extra things to make the conference more memorable. I want to thank La Torretta and the staff for a job well done. While nothing is ever perfect, you all did an amazing job. I have a strong personality and went in letting them know what my expectations were. I think if you go in and set your expectations your experience will be just like mine. The staff here can't read minds but are very willing to work with you if you are polite and ask for assistance.
