Hotel Nelligan in Montreal, Canada

Montreal is a city filled with energy, romance and culture, known for its splendid cuisine, sunny terraces, art and diversity. The same applies to Hotel Nelligan. Nestled in two adjoining nineteenth century buildings on picturesque Saint-Paul Street, the hotel is the perfect place to get acquainted with the charms of Old Montreal, like the Basilica Notre-Dame, the Old Port and Chinatown. The 105 rooms of the hotel feature fireplaces, exposed stone, brick walls, double whirlpool tubs, and tasteful furnishings. With such a graceful atmosphere, you will be continually reminded that this is a hip and happening metropolitan boutique hotel.

Because the hotel is named for the 19th-century Québécois poet Emile Nelligan, his lines adorn the walls of rooms and of Verses Restaurant, one of the country's finest contemporary French restaurants. Located ground level, through huge windows and the reflection of large 10-foot mirrors, guests can enjoy the natural light and the flow of the vibrant street life, all while dinning in a protected and intimate ambiance, accented by long flowing curtains and exquisite modern décor. In summer, the perfect party moves to the rooftop terrace bar, which happens to have the best nighttime view of the surroundings. Whether it be letting the hotel pamper you with complimentary wine and cheese, or having a refreshing workout in the gym, you will find that everything at Hotel Nelligan exudes good taste and charm.

Service is good, check in fast, rooms clean, excellent shower, The included breakfast is standard. Not great but fresh croissants. Well located in old Montreal.Lots to choose on television including connecting Netflix from your device.

Great stay - terrific location for seeing Old Montreal, good sized room, great service from all staff, really comfortable beds. Get the deal with valet parking and breakfast if you need both. Would suggest having a nightlight available in the washroom. Otherwise, everything you could possibly need has been thought of.

If you want a cozy, but a bit funky, well-appointed hotel that is reasonably priced, this is the place. The front desk under Daisy's leadership and all of the staff are extremely helpful and friendly--and bilingual (perhaps multilingual). We felt so at home. It was very clean. The shower was fantastic. The bed super comfortable. There is a nice lounge on the first floor. The room was very quiet. The hotel is also very conveniently located in the old quarter not far from the river but also close to the Metro. The only negatives I'd state are as follows: (1) The breakfast at the hotel is not too good. If the ingredients at the breakfast, especially the breads (sliced, and none too good) and pastries offered were more commensurate with the rest of the hotel's offerings, it would be much better. I'd probably just go elsewhere down the street. (2) The hotel would benefit from putting some felt or pads in the closets that back up against other guest rooms. The closets are quite shallow and the hangers bang on the back and make an awful racket as does the cabinet door. But even with those two issues, I am still giving the hotel 5 stars because it is an excellent value and great place to stay.

I had occasion to stay at the Hotel Nelligan for 3 Nights. As well my company used a meeting room for our Board Meeting. The hotel rooms were excellent and comfortable. The meeting room was a bit cramped ( not great for 12 people) however the food for the meeting was excellent and the attached restaurants were first rate. It was a great spot and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating.
