Reviews for Hotel Le Germain Montreal - Temporarily Closed

Christmas at Le Germain Hotel, Montreal.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

First of all, Hotel Le Germain Montreal is one of my favorite hotels. It is located right in the heart of the downtown core and walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. Once again, the hotel exceeded our expectations. Everything from the check in with a hot chocolate station in the lobby, the beautifully appointed rooms, to the attentive staff made our Christmas get away magical. We booked three rooms for the family and we all had an amazing stay, including our dog, Coco. We look forward to returning to the hotel in 2026.

My favorite hotel in Mtl

Flawless experience. Room was clean, cozy, stylish. Staff was attentive and the little bar in the lobby is a nice vibe. Would go back in a heartbeat.

A nice downtown hotel with a strange bathroom setup

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

I stayed in this hotel as part of a longer stay in Canada. The hotel is nicely decorated and my specific room had a 1960s/Expo 67 theme. One strange feature of the room was that the shower had a clear window in the wall that looked through to the main bedroom and the external window. This window also allowed the "nightlight" installed in the power socket for the bathroom to shine through to the main bedroom all night. The only way to disable this was to hit the "test" button on the power socket, which also disabled the light for the toilet. Other than this, the room was clean and well laid out. The curtains had good blackout performance and the supplied coffee making facilities were very good. Also a water carafe was provided along with a drinking water stand in the corridors, so you could help yourself to drinking water. The bar and restaurant were both very nice, with the restaurant offering fantastic food and a wide selection of wines. The hotel's location was also very convenient for exploring downtown Montreal on foot or for getting connections to the bus and subway networks. The 747 airport express bus also had a stop around a 10 minute walk away

If you don’t speak French, avoid the lounge at all costs!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

The location was good but I would not stay here again. If you don’t speak French the bartenders working the evening we were there are very anti-english. We waited in the lounge for 30mins waiting for service, there were 2 men behind the bar and only 2 other people in the lounge- it was a weekend night at approximately 8pm. We waited for 30 mins for anyone to approach us but it took over 30 minutes - when one of the male bartenders asked if we speaked english or french, we appologized and said english only. The bartender said if we did not speak french, he would not serve us and walked away-we were actually wondering if it was a joke or not, it wasnt. I live in Vancouver, BC and although I don’t speak every language of people I meet here, I can be respectful and even play sherades to figure out what people want-I dont discriminate what language speak or don’t speak- I was very disappointed by the 2 male staff at the lounge as a result of this and I, unfortunately, would not recommend this hotel based on these 2 insensitive male staff-they should not be working in a hotel of this class and treating people this way.

It was great we were in the middle of everything. There were great restaurants. You got to see old Quebec. There are wonderful walks around.
