Reviews for Hotel Le St James
Such a great location. The metro is right below the hotel. And the hotel is beautiful! Our room was large, wonderfully decorated and so comfortable. Room service was fast and the hotel staff were lovely. Thank you to Le St James for making the special trip a memorable one.

The location of the hotel is good. It’s walking distance from the old Montreal, but not that close. When the weather is really cold you may want to stay at a closer hotel. The staff is friendly. Nice place to stay when you come to Montreal.

Absolutely loved our 4-night stay at this venerable hotel in the heart of Old Montreal. The wow factor is everywhere. The building is stunning, as is the lobby, lounge, library and spacious bar. They upgraded our room from a standard to a deluxe double which was most appreciated. Such a lovely and luxurious bedroom and bath. The location is perfect to explore Montreal’s many charms by foot. And what a fantastic city it is!!!! Dozens of outstanding restaurants and coffee houses are right out the front door. The staggeringly beautiful Basilica of Montreal is a 5 min walk. You just can’t do better than the swanky Le Saint James. Worth every penny. We’ll definitely be back!

I've stayed at the St. James several times, most recently before this stay last November. Something is going wrong here. Lots of small, irritating problems need attention before this place really declines. We were not greeted at the door. This meant we had to haul our own luggage up the front steps to the hotel. The next morning we left at 9. When we returned at 2:30, our room was still not made up. I asked for a glass of wine to drink by the fireplace in the library. 10 minutes for the wine list to arrive. After 15 minutes, I asked the concierge where the waiter had gone to. She had to summon him to come back for my order, which took another 10 minutes to arrive. The room itself was clean, the beds comfortable, but hardly gracious. Reminded me of a Doubletree. The passenger elevator was inoperative during out stay, so everyone had to take the service elevator. The sink in the ladies' room was also broken. Concierge is helpful, desk staff friendly, and each of these problems alone would not have bothered me that much. But taken together, they spell trouble. Not sure I'll stay here again.

The Hotel Le St James is beautiful and well located in Old Montreal however the service is lacking. We stayed in a suite for 3 nights prior to a cruise. Our room was beautiful, the closet space was nonexistent and we didn't have hot water in the bathroom on 3 occasions. The housekeeping staff was wonderful & prompt in keeping the room made up. The front desk staff couldn't be bothered, they were rude and not willing to assist. Upon check in we were double charged for the room. We had already paid for the room & breakfast through our cruise company (it was their recommendation for a 5 star hotel). They charged us again for the room and it took 2 managers and 3 days to receive a credit. The lower rooms in the hotel have no view but are quiet. The bellman promptly brought our luggage but didn't know how to work anything in room nor offer to set up luggage. It's a lovely hotel but not a 5 star experience.
