Reviews for Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile Hotel

Disappointing stay at our former favorite hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

This hotel used to be our favorite hotel in Montreal. Prior to the renovation. Heck we even visited it twice during the renovation. Sadly that is no longer the case. This was our first visit to the hotel as a diamond accor member and frankly we didn’t feel welcomed. When we arrived we had to ask for the drink tickets. They weren’t automatically provided. We asked the front desk some questions. They said they’d get back to us. They never did. We ordered room service. The delivery guy was ok the first time. The second time the same guy seemed visibly annoyed to be delivering to us again. Even though we had left an additional gratuity. The breakfast was sub par. The room had a door stop in the middle of the floor that we kept kicking without shoes on. Frankly the only reason I’m giving them 3 stars is the bed was comfy. We stayed at another Accor hotel during this trip. There we were made to feel welcome and at home. Sofitel not so much.

Great stay

My mom and I went on a mother/daughter trip to Montreal. The stay at the Sofitel Montreal was excellent. The staff was great and the concierge recommended excellent local restaurants. Definitely recommend staying here.

My husband and I travelled to Montreal for a brief vacation. Our experience at the Sofitel was outstanding The hotel was lovely and our interaction with every staff member was warm and helpful. I would like to mention, Leonie, the concierge , in particular, who helped us navigate the city with excellent suggestions.

An excellent renovation.

A Montreal landmark that had always been a top hotel, has undergone a major renovation, and the result is a pleasure to behold. The property has done an excellent job, modernizing what was beginning to age. The lobby and my room look like they belong in this decade. And the food and service in Renoir, as always, was exemplary. No hesitation in continuously returning to the Sofitel Golden Mile.

Great stay until a glass broke in my son's mouth!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We had a wonderful stay until our very last day. The service was excellent, the beds were super comfy and hotel itself has been nicely renovated. My sons and I fled to the Sofitel after being at a different hotel in the area that had significant cleanliness issues. The Sofitel became our haven until the last day when we decided to eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The service was incredibly slow and we waited over 30 minutes for our food. My 10 year old sipped slowly on his glass of cranberry juice and the glass literally cracked in his mouth! There were shards everywhere and one shard scratched his face and blood was on his face. I quickly got the glass away from him and beckoned a person over who looked Ike the manager. I told him what had happened, asked him to take the glass away and showed him my son's cut face! He said sorry that happened, I will get you a wet towel. He took the broken glass away and returned with a wet cocktail napkin. He then simply left! No offer to get him another glass of juice, no asking if he was ok, no offer to check the area for shards, simply walked away. I was appalled! Our waiter eventually showed up and I explained to him what happened. I asked him to get my son another cup of juice. He said, so sorry that this happened. By this point, I had lost my appetite as had my son. They took away our full plates of food and presented me with the bill! It was so very callous. I left completely shaken and shocked that any hotel could treat an injured guest this way but particularly a hotel that bills itself as a luxury brand. My son's face still has a cut on it and no one has even cared enough to inquire as to his well-being. So very disappointed in the Sofitel.
