Palace property overlooking the lake

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We stayed in their suite room with a very large balcony, overlooking the lake. Its a proper palace feel property and the room was big. They had places a bay cot and balloons in the room in advance for my kid. Service was quick and the food was decent. They have 2 pools, indoor and outdoor and also have jacuzzi near the pool. It is indeed amongst one of the finest fairmont properties i have been to.

You see the grand old building as you are driving up and it’s like wow so lovely. The hallways and ballrooms are so beautiful. There was no Bellman nor valet waiting so that did not give the best first impression and the entrance lobby looks old and jaded. That being said the room was great. Just re done, huge high ceilings and period details but all fresh and new. All very clean. There is a small road just in front of the hotel and you have to wall down to the lake. It is a great location but the area seems very commercial and the food could be improved. As it’s now off season there was only one option. And the lunch items were the same as dinner. That being said my daughter wanted mango for breakfast so they went to get some for her which was above and beyond. Impressive. I also really liked that in the room they gave you many glass bottles of water. For me it’s all in the small details!

Average room at best, decent restaurant, great location with very competent staff.

Unfortunately this hotel did not meet expectations. The staff was so lovely, friendly, and helpful. I hate to leave a bad review because they were top notch. However, the room was a HUGE disappointment. The room is small and very lackluster, like almost no style to it, and was dated and dingy. If I was rating the bathroom I would give it 1 star, the room maybe 2.5. The restaurant is a 3.5 due to the very limited menu. The spa was maybe a 3, really just average. The hotel was quite empty when we stayed, so the fact that they didn't give us a decent room makes me wonder if all the rooms are that bad? The bathroom had broken tiles, the tiniest, cheaply built shower you can imagine (like some kind of pre-fab cubby!), the water pressure and temperature fluctuated greatly the whole time in the shower, hot to cold, trickle to ok pressure, the bathtub water trickled out so it took ages to fill the tub (which I wouldn't care if I could have had a nice hot shower, but since I couldn't I tried the tub which was frustrating as it just took so long to fill). The hairdryer was attached to the wall and just cheap and horrible..you had to keep your finger on the button the whole time to use it. I expect to see that in a motel!! The pillows are so flat and old, need replacing. The towels had holes in them! again maybe this can pass in a motel but at the Fairmont at this price?? Not for me. Very disappointing stay. We were so looking forward to a luxury experience and we did not get it at all. Actually I've had this experience at another Fairmont so now thinking it's a brand issue...

Made in Heaven!

What an absolute gem of a hotel! Every member of staff takes pride in ensuring you have the best stay at this hotel - they are amazing! From Mohammed who booked me in to Margarita who took care of me when I went to the spa. They all take the time to interact and make your time at the hotel memorable. My room was lovely! Great view over the lake, newly renovated , with a little balcony. The balcony is tiny but great to watch the sunsets from! Only one issue - you had to slam the door to lick it - reported to reception and appears to be a known issue but they are looking at this. I had breakfast each day, inc in my room one day and again, all the staff were friendly and engaging. I genuinely didn’t want to leave ( a rare thing for me!😊) but I know I will be back as this hotel is a little slice of wellness and peace!
