The Manava is not a super fancy or high end establishment. When you arrive there is a 25 minute check in process but you're instantly greeted and welcomed with cold lemonade. For two of the nights we stayed in a Garden bungalow in #226. The need was very comfortable. Its close to the beach and the pool and was close enough to get decent wifi most of the time. The private pool area stays shady so the water in the pool does stay pretty cold. The room is cute and I didn't have any complaints. The following 5 nights we stayed in a premium overwater bungalow. The room is a little outdated but room 409 did not disappoint. We happily watched 2 different octopuses swim underneath, beautiful fish and one evening we watched a shark swim up and eat some of the fish. On our last day we had a large turtle swim up. The shower pressure is really light and the bath tub is tall. When we stayed we had some nights with serious wind and the bathroom top window doesn't close so the toilet paper blew everywhere, lol. The balcony has lounge chairs that face the ocean and the sunsets are gorgeous. We also enjoyed how many stars can be seen at night. Its just breathtaking. The resort has free equipment to rent such as snorkeling gear and kayaks. The pool is gorgeous and is along the ocean. The food is okay. Nothing to brag about but it can get costly. I'm a big fan of the banana colada! The breakfast buffet isnt bad. There's cereal, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, pastries, bacon, sausage and an egg station where you can request an omelet or fried eggs. The customer service is amazing. I found everyone to be kind and sweet. I am so appreciative my travel agent Laurel Samuela with Truetahitivacation booked this place for our honeymoon. The island is beautiful but this resort was relaxing and peaceful. On our honeymoon we watched a mama whale and it's baby leap into the air in the ocean and jet skied through a pack of baby dolphins, and swam with sharks and stingray. If you're looking for a nice relaxing and beautiful honeymoon this place is perfect. We're also appreciative our last night was surprised with a cold bottle of wine in an ice bucket for us to enjoy. I can't wait to return!

My husband and I took our first trip without our daughter and stayed here. We stayed the first couple nights in a Standard Overwater Bungalow and then switched to Premium. It was GORGEOUS! The water on site is safe to drink as the whole resort is filtered. The location is super convenient to walk to the "town" area. There is a small grocery store about a 5 min walk away where you can buy pretty much anything. The buffet breakfast was good. We would eat at the hotel for breakfast, walk to the store and buy a baguette, cold cuts, and fruit for lunch and then go out to dinner. Most restaurants would come pick you up from the hotel. The only negative is the wifi connection is terrible. BUT... really... in paradise do you need to be connected to your device?

Good location compared with other resorts which are not close by . Great set up nice pool and private pool villas is great we also stayed in a beach front villa for one night . Service is good and surroundings lovely . Downside no kitchenette and there is no bar fridge to keep food cool if you want to by something just for a snack . Breakfast very average and around $50.00 nz per person was definately not worth it not great selection and also to told buffet closing in a rude manner by a male staff member is not what you want to hear when your trying to have a relaxing holiday . Facilities good with snorkel gear kayaking ect free good swimming and clean water . Not far from ferry terminal and a cross the road is Alberts tours fantastic tour operators with safari tours jet skis scooters and more. All round a good choice but accomodation extremely expensive

We have just arrived home after staying 12 nights at this beautiful resort. We had 5 nights in a premium garden bungalow with it's own pool which we really loved and 7 nights in a premium over the water bungalow. Both were amazing, very well appointed and comfortable. The sunsets viewed from the over water room were amazing and we just loved sitting out on the deck in the evening. The only thing I felt was a bit disappointing was no shade at all on the deck which was extremely hot at all times. The staff were so friendly and helpful, we were most impressed. I would definately highly recommend this resort. The price of food and drink is hugely expensive which is the only downside.

We were a family of sixteen; eight adults and eight children whose ages ranged from 18mths to 11. I wanted this to be a great holiday with the focus on warm water for water activities and from day one I knew I had made the right choice. All the children loved the infinity pool and the older ones spent hours snorkeling around immediately outside the resort....often the little ones were taken out on the kayaks so were a part of it too. We ventured right out to the reef where there was an abundance of sea life ...as there was right around the resort. We had taken most of our own snorkel gear and life jackets for the youngest five....we were always able to hire the odd piece of snorkel gear if we needed it. Also we had no problems with the kayaks etc...they were usually there when we wanted to use them. We all loved our breakfasts and the pineapples were to die for. We ate most of our dinners there as the children were able to dine free and they offered a good variety of food. Lunch was usally a baguette purchased at the local store about a five minute walk away. We loved the little extras that were left in our rooms - lovely fruit platter one day; yummy macaroons another; soap; and bottles of water. On reading reviews prior to leaving NZ there were a lot of negative ones regarding wi-fi - that wasn't an issue for me as i was there for the holiday but some of the adults had to use it at times and there was never an issue. We hired bikes one morning and had a great bike ride up the hill to see the amazing view looking down onto soffital. we also hired a car for a day and had an amazing day stopping at some of the lovely beaches as we drove around the island. For us the highlight trip was one we booked prior to leaving NZ and that was with Michael Poole - we were out with him for five hours and saw dolphins and one whale ...and got to swim with the stingrays and reef sharks.....his knowledge was inspiring. For me another great experience was heading down to Eva's Perles and spending some time with her choosing one of her great creations - she was brillant to talk to and it was a really special occasion. We found all the staff at the manava to be helpful and iIwould like to thank Chihiro who arranged our taxi pi!ck-up when the ferry docked in papeete (moana taxis?)...he was amazing: Hiro at the front desk was lovely and front desk staff were always easy to work with. Frank in the restaurant was great value. Hiring a car for a day was also a great decision. In summing up our stay .....we LOVED it and would go love to go back again one day!!
