Not worth the expense

Beautiful location, but that’s it. We had a bungalow over the water which had great snorkeling from our own private deck. Everything was too expensive (room, food, drinks) and low quality. Entire resort needs renovation. Food was terrible.

Very nice.....BUT....

Beautiful location, friendly staff, everything you really need is provided. Breakfast is great (the guy who does the eggs is an absolute credit to the hotel) Rooms are beautiful with the comfiest bed ever ! A few areas they can improve upon are - 1. Cushions or bases for the sunbeds - very uncomfortable with just a towel it's a sofitel on the beautiful beach so please invest in some comfort for the guests. 2. Priced in bars for drinks and snacks are silly. People are paying a high amount to stay here, so at least make the drinks and food a little more sensibly priced. 3. Checkout is SLOW so plan ahead it took us almost 40mins in a queue to check out - which is a shame..... the end of the vacation is the bit that sticks so if everything is perfect throughout and then check in is slow and painful it Spilsby the whole experience for some. Otherwise, great place and great staff !!!

Great resort.

We stayed here March 17-24. We had a beachfront bungalow. The resort is very nice. Very lush and clean. Check in was nice. A welcome drink, cool towels and a flower lei. The person at check in was very friendly and informative. Showed us a map of the resort with all the important places. The room was very nice. Roomy and clean. They provided cleaning daily and restocked the towels and mini bar. There is a safe in the room for valuables. The food was great. Breakfast was a buffet with fresh made omelets and fruits and veggies. Staff was very accommodating. Lunch and dinner were served a la carte. We thought the food was very good. Friday night was a Polynesian buffet and a show. The beach was awesome. Snorkeling was great and there was always an open chair. The beach bar was good as well. We would definitely recommend the Sofitel.

Just a Great Resort

We traveled to French Polynesia in Nov with 2 other couples. We visited Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora. While in Moorea we stayed 4 nights at the Sofitel Kia Ora. We had a wonderful experience. Food was good, service was great and resort had a nice beach area for snorkeling. We all stayed in garden bungalows which were very comfortable, large and well appointed. We booked through Costco Travel and elected a 3 course nightly dinner & daily breakfast package. While the food may not have been five star cuisine, it was very good and all service in the restaurants was excellant. We enjoyed their nightly happy hour which did get crowded but was good. After reading some of the negative reviews on Trip Advisor before our trip, we were a little hesitant but once we arrived at resort, we were extremely pleased and would definitely stay at the Sofitel again and would recommend this resort to family and friends.

Best Vacation

My favorite thing about this resort was the beach. They had the best beach versus a different different place I had stayed at in Moorea. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a beach bungalow and it was so nice to walk out your door onto the beach and it was just right there. We booked through Pacific for Less and they were absolutely amazing. We told them what we wanted and they made our dreams come true. I almost forgot to mention the breakfast chef he was so amazing. He made us laugh every morning. He had the best personality. We cannot wait to see him each morning.
