Best vacation ever!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

This was one of the best, if not THE best vacation we have had, thanks to the amazing staff and experience at the Sofitel! Even though we arrived early, we didn't have to wait too long for our amazing overwater bungalow. Jack at the front desk/concierge was kind and gracious (but who wasn't on the entire island?!) and gave us all the information we needed and always with a smile. Every single staff member we encountered was so kind with a genuine "ia ora na!" which made our stay so pleasant. The overwater bungalow was definitely worth it as we had the best snorkeling right off our own deck. On top of all the different kinds of colorful fish, we saw an eagle ray multiple times, puffer fish, eels, and a shark(!) from our room. It seemed surreal. Our bungalow was perfectly appointed with everything we needed for a super comfortable and amazing time.

Great stay in Moorea

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

This resort is really nice. In my opinion, the best place to stay in Moores. The rooms are spacious, well appointed, and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the facilities are nice. The breakfast buffet is really good, but the dinners are marginal. We stayed in a Garden Bungalow because the OWB's were sold out when we booked. But the Garden rooms are the same room, just not on the water. No big deal. The pool is nice. The snorkeling under the OWB's is the best, and is REALLY good.

"I think this might be the most beautiful place in the whole world"

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

At the lookout at the top of the hill behind the resort we heard a group of people on a day trip from the cruise say that they thought it looked like the most beautiful place in the world - THIS IS SO TRUE. The water and setting is absolutely amazing. Warm, clear and calm water that took our breath away, so much so that we did not have to do a snorkelling tour as it was literally at our doorstep. We stayed two nights in an overwater bungalow. We appreciated all the small gestures from staff to make our experience unforgettable. Being able to swim right off our bungalow was amazing and felt really authentic. The little touches, like the outdoor shower and complementary drink bottles (which were amazing to keep water cold all day) to the reef and coral conservation under our bungalow made our stay extra special. The breakfast was delicious and the service at the dive shop was great (complementary snorkel hire and 1hr of water sports). The restaurants were quite expensive (although you just have to accept that Tahiti overall is expensive) so our advice would be to make the most of the happy hour at the bar or dine elsewhere (lots of places will pick you up if you do not have a car). The resort was quiet and very relaxing (not heaps of children running around) so makes for the perfect place to unwind, chill out and really feel like you are on holiday!

Anniversary Turns into Nightmare: Disgusting Experience at Sofitel Moorea

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

4/19/24 we were booked to stay at the Sofitel in Moorea, French Polynesia. for 3 nights to celebrate our 25 year anniversary. We were early so we waited for our room to be ready. The view was spectacular so we changed clothes & decided to go to the pool while we waited. The front desk gave us a couple towels and we walked down to the pool. The first thing we noticed was many pool tiles were missing and the pool was in disrepair. But the view was so nice we overlooked it. Went for lunch at the bar. The waitress was nice but the food wasn’t very good but again we chalked it up to personal preference. Then things went downhill. We we continued to wait we went into the lobby restrooms they were horribly old and awful where people had went to the restroom in the floor and no one cleaned up. We had booked one of the nicest overwater bungalows. Then we got our room and it looked 50+ years old. Scratched up everywhere and things broken, stains on the furniture. Just looked awful. Certainly NOTHING like what had been advertised. Clearly the ratings on the internet must be censored/old. We were so upset and disappointed. Then things got worse, I went to turn down the bed and found a big yellow spot on the sheets like someone had urinated on them. We didn’t eat all night because we were so upset. We went down to the person in charge, Kanita, and told her what we found. She helped us and switched us to another room + had cleaning check bedsheets. The room was still old and smelled of urine as well but better than the other one. Our Anniversary was ruined. We didn’t know what to do but were stuck at that point. 1st thing next morning we talked to Kanita again and our travel company. Kanita was the one bright spot in the situation. She was very helpful and talked to her manager and agreed to not charge us for the following 2 nights so we could move to another hotel. However, we should never have been charged for the first night either. It was expensive to get to Moorea, then to experience this was terribly disheartening. We were going to switch to another hotel but were told that the Hilton and the Manava. we the next best but not as good as the Sofitel. The food was really bad at both. This was Sofitel who told us this. With no good hotel or food we decided to move directly to the second part of our trip in Bora Bora. We spent all day rebooking and switching our entire itinerary including moving flights. Sofitel should be ashamed of themselves. To allow a hotel to be in such disrepair! We travel often and we will never, never stay at another ACCOR (Owns Sofitel) again. We will stay at a Brand we can trust! I reached out to ACCOR to tell them what had happened and they just pushed me back to the local management which didn't respond. Their Leadership needs to inspect and oversee their hotels. They should be responsible for what is connected to their brand. More than $1K USD a night, bad food, broken, old, dirty accommodations. Our time is worth more than that! What a miserable experience! Moorea is a beautiful island with wonderful people but I hope this review helps others to know before they are mislead by dated travel pictures and reviews.

Honeymoon at Sofitel!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Our honeymoon was beyond perfect at the Sofitel. We loved waking up on or next to the crystal clear water. The buffet breakfast is beyond delicious and the omlette chef Heinz has awesome energy. Our rooms had very comfortable beds and pillows and a lot of space to relax and have our bags in. We loved the balconies and privacy to suntan or read in the sun. A must visit 💕
