Dusit Thani Maldives

This is by far the worst 5-star resort in the Maldives we have been to (and we have been to many). The focus is not on the guest and the level of service does not correspond to the 5-star category, especially housekeeping, butler, water centre. It's a hit or miss situation, depending on the day and the staff, which is not acceptable. Big red flags: 1. Every Monday a large number of external visitors from a boat cruise are invited on the island to use all facilities (pool, bar, restaurant, water sports, etc.) which interferes with the resort guests. This is usually offered on the local islands but never at the resorts. 2. Staff from other resorts are also invited for dinner at the guest restaurant, and the servers were more busy attending to them than the resort guests. 3. The main restaurant is close for lunch every day. The other restaurants are also closed on selected days for lunch and dinner. 4. There is no internet on the pathways, only at the villa or at the restaurants. The GM apparently was hired to make money for the resort, hence all the external guests, and it is very obvious why services and staff have been reduced, however, the prices they are charging correspond to a very different level of service, which you do not receive. The pool bar guys are also helping for breakfast, dinner and maintaining the pool area, i.e. there is no pool staff. The so-called butler sends you on WhatsAPP the daily activities, if he remembers, there is very little personal interaction. I had to ask repeatedly for the daily activities as they were not sent to us. He even forgot to tell us about the sunset cruise so we could not go on the dhoni trip. Housekeeping is at bare minimum - change of towels and making the bed, the outdoor area was not even touched for an entire week. The water centre is not interested to take you places and is not suggesting activities, however, if you are lucky to be around for a manta trip to Hanifaru bay, then they are more talkative. Again, you are given the list and left on your own to figure out what they offer / where you can go outside of the island. Otherwise, the island is green and relatively big, so good options to walk around. Signs can be improved as it can be confusing which way you need to go, especially in the first days of your stay. Staff in the kitchen is great and there you can see a big difference in people who want to make your stay enjoyable. The reef is OK, some parts of it are with strong currents, there are lots of turtles around and snorkeling opportunities are good. This is also the only resort that did not have any room decoration upon arrival. Overall, we had a good time together, but this is definitely not a resort we should return to.

Dusit Thani Maldives is absolutely worth a visit. The staff made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. If your idea of a perfect holiday involves sunshine, tropical warmth, and plenty of time in the ocean, you’ll feel right at home here. We chose the Pure Indulgence (PI) meal plan, and the food was fresh and delicious, also plenty. Deciding what to order quickly became one of our more demanding daily responsibilities. We would especially like to express our sincere appreciation to our butler, Ajaa, and Nishan from the housekeeping team. Ajaa was professional, efficient, and reliable throughout our visit. From coordinating our arrangements to answering questions and addressing our requests, he made everything feel smooth and well organised. We truly appreciated his responsiveness and the care he put into looking after us. Nishan kept our villa spotless and comfortable, and made sure we always had plenty of drinking water, sodas, and juices (as we do not drink wines; But if you wish to). His thoughtful, attentive service made a real difference to our everyday comfort in our villa. Thank you, Ajaa and Nishan, and the entire Dusit Thani team, for your warm hospitality and for making our stay so memorable.

From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we were nurtured by the people, island and marine life that is Mudhdhoo Island. We loved the spaciousness of the villas, the ease with which we could ease into the ocean, the spectacular house reef which surprised us every snorkel, as well as the lush rainforest providing welcome shade, wildlife and tropical gardens. However a resort is only as good as its people. The personalised attention and genuine care we received from the resort staff was extraordinary. Our kind butler Yasir ensured we always had reservations for dinner, the spa and activities. However he was also invaluable to us with unusual requests for IT support. The lovely housekeeping were friendly and polite, always willing to fit in with our daily plans and stocking the mini bar with our favourite drinks. Breakfast was always met with a smile and a chat from lovely Kooty. The young guides on the boat were so friendly and helpful with our excursions, making every effort to help us fulfill lifetime dreams of swimming with both the mantra rays and whale sharks. We would lastly like to acknowledge the very special staff of Sala restaurant. Amila, Ishan and team, including the talented chef, gave us such beautiful, nourishing, inventive vegan meals, that we dined with them daily and literally tried everything on the menu. Lovely food, beautiful people and dreamlike ambience. Sala will remain in our memories and hearts forever. Thankyou Dusti Thani for such a nurturing holiday.

We visited this resort for the first time for our honeymoon, and it was such an amazing experience that we truly didn’t want to leave. I highly recommend this resort to anyone who loves snorkeling and wants to enjoy a relaxing and luxurious getaway at their own pace. During the manta ray excursion, we were able to spend plenty of time with the manta rays, which became an unforgettable memory that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We were a little disappointed that we couldn’t see whale sharks on the whale shark excursion, but it actually gave us another reason to plan a future trip to the Maldives! We became so obsessed with snorkeling every day that we were completely exhausted, so unfortunately, we didn’t get to enjoy as much food and drinks as we would have liked. If you want to have enough energy to fully enjoy the resort’s dining and drinks, I would recommend limiting snorkeling to once or twice a day. Finally, our butler, Saeed, was absolutely perfect. He always responded to our questions immediately and arranged everything so quickly and efficiently. His support made our stay even more enjoyable.
