My wife and I just returned (to a blizzard!) after spending a wonderful week at Dusit Thani Maldives. Spoiler alert: The resort, and people, exceeded all of our expectations. We selected Dusit Thani based on 1) The house reef 2) Positive reviews about the level of service and 3) The island itself (size, greenery). Firstly, the snorkeling was the best we have ever seen (includes frequent Caribbean trips as well as Hawaii). The ability to see such a large variety of fish, as well as quantity, literally a few strokes from our villa was extraordinary. We quickly found several jump in points, at the Dive Center and Benjarong Restaurant, swimming with the light current and spotting reef sharks, turtles, starfish, and a large assortment of colorful fish. The service at this resort can be described as genuinely warm, gracious, and respectful. Starting with the reservations team, all questions were answered promptly and thoroughly prior to arrival (shout out to Irish!). Reveesha at the Sea Grill was another favorite, starting with a special Valentine's Day dinner and providing that large smile and welcome conversation throughout our stay. Taking care of all housekeeping needs, Yusef's warm smile and engaging manner was a daily treat. Last but not least, our butler Danil was a rock star, being ultra responsive to our requests. Stopping by nightly at our dinner table, checking in on us and our casual conversations, was both a nice, personalized touch and a welcome daily event. The island itself was a slice of paradise, we are going to genuinely miss our daily bike rides! We would strongly recommend Dusit Thani Maldives, well worth the long trip from NY. Five stars plus!

In the last 5 years I've been 5 times on the maldives. Dusit Thani was by far the best hotel/island. The service, the food, the enviroment was just stunning. only little downside, but thats very personal is, that the gym needs a complete renovation and isn't 5* worthy at all, but for most of the people the gym isnst important. The highlights were: - the butler service - to discover the island on the boke - the food was finger licking good at all of the restaurants, especially the over water thai and also vegan restaurant - the spa is the most beautiful spa i have ever seen and the massages were amazing

For most hotels, good service starts on check in. For this hotel, it starts at the airport. And from that moment on you don’t have to lift a finger. The staff are obviously all very well trained. I picked up on small details like how every member of staff said hello as you passed, from the general manager down to the groundskeepers. And when you go for a meal, the waiting staff always have you a choice of tables. That small detail was really appreciated. The food was fantastic. We were on the all inclusive which was lovely. Not everything is included but the vast majority is. It’s only the more expensive cuts of steak and whole lobster dishes that I noticed that weren’t included. Your butler books the à la carte restaurants for you and there was never an issue with getting reservations. And although the hotel was at capacity, the restaurants always felt calm and spacious. The island itself is beautiful. As an old coconut plantation, the island boasts many palm trees and now landscaped grounds which are pristine. The hotel gives every room bikes to get about but we walked due to having a small baby and buggy with us. It’s max 15 mins to walk across the island. We stayed in an overwater villa and it was beautiful. The hotel provided a cot for our baby which was really comfortable and good quality. The best thing about the villas is being over an amazing bit of house reef. We could go out our room and snorkel everyday and see reef fish, sharks and turtles. Being that little bit further out to sea the overwater villas offered better snorkelling without having to swim out to sea. My only suggestion for improvement is to work on the accessibility of the restaurants and buildings. We had a pram, but every building had steps to get in. And in addition some had thick sand in front. This meant we always had to carry our pram to get inside. It’s a shame accessibility hasn’t been considered in the design. Ramps could easily be installed to fix this problem for future guests. Thank you particularly to Jean Louis (general manager) , Sayeed (butler), Raveesha (Sea Grill) and Laura (Sustainability - met in behind the scenes tour) who all gave us great memories.
