We went into this trip not being starry-eyed first timers. We have been to many resorts in various atolls in the Maldives, but never to Baa Atoll. We chose Dusit Thani for its proximity to Hanifaru Bay and for being the only resort that doesn't seem to gouge visitors on the transfer fees. The return transfers for 2 people were $430 - total (yes, you read that right!). The resort is on a beautiful circular island with dense, lush vegetation. Even though there are 94 rooms on the island, it never felt over-crowded or too built-up due to the size and layout of the island. There is one main trail that goes around the island and one main trail that crosses through the middle of the island. The trails are well groomed and easy to traverse on the complimentary bicycles. When you bike the trails, it feels like you are biking through a tropical jungle. The trails are lighted at night, so you can get some exercise after dark. My wife says the trail that crosses through the middle of the island feels like an enchanted forest at night. The sand on the beaches is some of the softest sand we have come across in the Maldives. The house reef goes all the way around the island. The drop-off is an impressive vertical wall -- all the way around the island. To us, the reef looked a lot better than some other resorts we have visited recently. There were some patches of dead coral, but there were also many areas where the coral looks pretty healthy or appeared to be rebounding. The reef is also teeming with abundant fish life. All the usual suspects, except sharks. What heartened us most was the absence of crown of thorns, and not seeing a single item of garbage floating on the reef or anywhere in the water. The rooms and bathrooms are fantastic and are as previously described, so I won't go into too much detail here. I will say the beds are VERY comfortable! There is a nice selection of coffee, teas and water that is replenished daily. What no one really talks about in any detail is the resort's commitment to the environment. They have a desalination plant to make their own drinking water and they use glass water bottles, they compost and use the compost on their own vegetable garden, they use refillable toiletry bottles for the shampoo, conditioner and body wash, and they even use paper straws for drinks! In short, it is a virtually plastic-free island! If everything else about this resort was terrible (which it is not!), we would still love Dusit Thani for this. We hope other resorts adopt these practices for the sake of the fish and the reefs. As noted in other reviews, there are 3 restaurants and 2 bars. The food is consistently excellent in all of the restaurants. What surprised us the most was the vegetables. They were delicious and tasted so fresh. The deserts and pastries were also outstanding. Usually, there are multiple "throw-away" deserts and pastries at Maldivian buffets -- not the case here. The cocktails were also crafted with care and were very good. The Thai restaurant, Benjarong, is especially great, and the staff are fantastic! I know many reviews note the kindness and friendliness of the resort staff. These accounts are not even close to an exaggeration. We felt so welcomed and so well looked after. We have never come across so many genuinely friendly and helpful staff as we have at Dusit Thani. I believe the resort was almost at full capacity, yet they always remembered us, our preferences and other relevant details. My wife caught a cold after the first day and every time we went to any of the restaurants or bars, various staff members would offer her tea with herbs and spices to help combat the cold. She also received a get well card and a nice basket of fruit. The combination of professionalism and genuine kindness left us with the most positive impression we've had so far of any Maldives resort. I believe this is due in part to the corporate culture. The staff seem to be treated very well, and it shows. A special thank you to "Doctor" Lachey (thank you for the potions and tonics...even though my wife said they tasted frightful!), "Pooh" (thank you for being such a great hostess, and for the dishes you had specially made for us, and for the dishes that it would never have occurred to us to order), Gerald (my wife said she is looking forward to that tennis game next time!), Naseem (thank you for introducing us to Mangosteen), Chef Sunai at Benjarong (thank you for the extra 10 lbs. we are both now carrying around), and bartenders Amilla, and Cashmir. And thanks to the management/supervisory staff (Priya, Carmen, Ishaag, Alex, Ludo) who were always coming around and checking on us at lunch, dinner or whenever, just to see if there was anything at all we needed! This is not the sort of resort where you never see the management. We were chatted up by Johann, the General Manager, approximately three times a day! This is a truly beautiful island where staff make it all the more special. We'll be back!

We want there 4 nights. Stay at pool villas 3 night and beach villa 1 night. Beach villa with private beach. Peaceful. We got free spa for 1 hours at devarana spa with our package all inclusive. Esp When you go dive around the islands after you have this signature massage. The spa So marvelous. However, The next day we went there again. I recommend cocktail at a sand bar and night time with live music. We join the manta tour, we saw only 7 of them.

A island known for "heaven on earth", but what makes it more beautiful? The people around in Dusit Thani Maldives. Staff are polite, respectful, and helpful. The place where you can truly get the genuine smile. We had breakfast in The Market. Not everything you can have but one thing for sure you will get is healthy and fresh food, fruits, fresh bread, fresh juices, etc and can even request what you feel like eating and definitely you will have it on your table👌🏻. If you are celebrating your bday, anniversary etc, for sure you will feel like you're the king and queen at this resort. You can ask Filipina pastry chef Ms Loela Tobias to prepare your favourite cake or Chef Kuhn Atita who is very accommodating to ask what you are craving for to eat for breakfast. Ahmed the waiter who always make sure you will not run out of coffee in your table and if your lazy he will even bring your food request or fruits. It's not only the staff I mentioned but over all, all the staff in Market are wonderful staff. Sand bar -where you can do sun bathing, swim in infinity pool, have drinks or late lunch or simply tapas. Kristine one of the staff always keeps smiling and will definitely help you regarding your food and drink requests. All the staff in Sand Bar are lovely. One of the hang out place where to watch sunset while having a glass of wine🥂or taste any of the cocktails during happy hour 6pm-8pm daily. Benjarong-The best authentic Thai food outside Thailand, they even have a Thai cooking class. Gerald and one Thai staff (nick name James) are very accommodating making you feel at home away from home. The restaurant is alongside the ocean where you can even see a thousands stars and if your lucky there might even be a falling star ... 😊🙏🏻 Over all you feel very welcome, safe and home wherever you go and whatever you do at Dusit Thani. A place that is not only feeding your stomach but learning something new and enjoying nature and most importantly helps you to calm down from hectic city life. A truly ones in a life time experience to see the Heaven on Earth, DUSIT THANI MALDIVES👌🏻👌🏻 P.S - A good value for money, good food, wonderful staff, clean amenities, Lovely beach and snorkelling area. At Ocean dive centre they have the latest jet ski and nice diving area. Don't forget to enjoy the Cocktail sunset party as well as the Lagoon lunch❤️ Sala Bar(sunset) and Sea grill restaurant(dinner and lunch) is nice to try also. All the Villas are amazing. Until next time Dusit Thani Maldives👌🏻

This is one of the most memorable holidays of my life, from the time that we reached there by seaplane to the time we left, there was one element that permeated our entire stay- PERSONAL SERVICE. We were greeted on arrival by the whole team and immediately magnetised to the front of house manager Carmen and our butler Mario. They featured prominently throughout our entire trip. I am sure we would have had a great holiday without these individuals, however, they took our holiday from great to SUPERLATIVE. Mario was extraordinary, particularly with our kids. they took to him like a family member which is quite rare for our fussy clingy two year old. From the personal service to the absolute warmth we felt it was amazing. the resort is set on an island that is roughly 1.3km in circumference, with numerous rooms and villas, however, you always feel as if you are one of only a few people on the island. the rooms are amazing, the food was sensational (the Thai restaurant, Benjarong was exceptional). the snorkling was brilliant and the drop off is literally close to your unit. no need to dive, snorkeling is enough!!! The pool area was great and we spent most of our days there. There are so many things i can say about this place to make you choose it, but the one key item is warmth and love, the staff take a deep personal interest in making things amazing for you. The person that we miss most is Mario, our kids still ask for him, a month later!!!! they want to know where is Uncle Mario and when can we go on the seaplane to Uncle Mario. We hope that one day we will vist the Dusit Maldives again and have the pleasure of having Mario and Carmen take care of us. Summary: The Good: virtually everything- people are amazing. This place is a place of dreams. The bad: some small lapses in service which is excusable- our bathroom toiletries were not replaced timeously on ocassion. I guess the island could also do with another restaurant- the food is excellent, but i think one more option would be great. The ugly: our minibar had some items consumed by the cleaners, although this was dealth with very well by the staff. Overall we cannot wait to go back!
