PROS - The resort ambience is friendly and laid-back, more so than opulent, so it suits families. And the island is small enough to bike around in under 15 minutes but not so much as to feel crowded - The room was pretty standard, simple decoration, airy bathroom, and lovely high ceiling - Excellent breakfast buffet with everything you could possibly ask for and endless choices. Fresh, tasty, and clean. If you like iced tea, do ask for the delicious ginger-lemongrass iced tea - There are three restaurants on the island: The Market for breakfast and dinner buffet, Sea Grill for seafood, and Benjarong for Thai food. At any of the restaurants they are incredibly accommodating with food requests and tailoring your meal to suit you - What really makes the entire resort is the extremely dedicated staff. All of the employees were happy, helpful, friendly, and accommodating. You're assigned a butler during your stay so you have someone who regularly checks up on you and makes sure everything is fine - There's a 24-hour gym, yoga class, tennis court, kids' club, sunset cruise, and a bunch of water activities (snorkeling is free) CONS - Some parts of the water villa were noticeably aged and worn. The sundeck was very worn-out and in need of a refresh as the wood was so battered and faded all over. The rack and hangers in the wardrobe were very battered. The tiles in the shower cubicle were discolored and a bit age-grubby and the stall leaked water out on the floor - Cleanliness was good overall but details could be improved; for example, the safety box keypad was noticeably dirty and sticky upon our arrival (probably hadn't been wiped down in a while) - It was too dark on the island after sunset, although there are spotlights along the trees they simply weren't enough. We'd bike past our villa at nighttime because we couldn't recognize it or the area. Would've been really nice to have fairy lights strung along the trees and paths. Having self-luminous signs and room plates would also be immensely helpful - Too few signs for finding your way around the island, so it can be confusing at first. Signs seemed to mainly be placed at road forks but there wouldn't be more guidance after that - I found that the á la carte restaurants sometimes felt understaffed at dinnertime as the waiters could be hard to wave over or the food arrived a bit slowly - This is a Thai hotel chain and all of the staff greet you in Thai ("hello" in Thai and with the Thai hand gesture) which I found to be a bit of a bummer as I traveled far to the Maldives to experience the Maldives and not Thailand

Our family have visited the Maldives a number of times. Each time we would try different resorts. This time we chose the Dusit Thani as it was in the Baa atoll and it was the season to spot Manta rays. We were not disappointed. Our dives were fantastic and our dive instructor, Younis, was outstanding . he took great care of us, especially our daughter! The food at Dusit was great especially Benjarong - the Thai restaurant . (The chef and his staff and service staff were perfect!) Obviously being a Thai chain, the Thai food was outstanding . The other restaurants like the Sea Grill and Marketplace were excellent too. The selection of food was extensive and we were spoilt for choice . We never got tired of the food even though we were there for 10 days! The Dusit was more family oriented. During our stay there were quite a number of families . The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff made sure that everything was provided for. Just one point to note, the beach villa rooms with pools have the pools in the rear which is unlike most other resorts which have their pools in the front. Most important for any stay in a resort to make a resort unforgettable is the staff. All the staff at the Dusit were exceptionally genuinely caring and friendly - all the way from the most senior GM and Resident Manager to our personal butler (Riyaz) to all the service staff in every restaurant and bar. I'd recommend the Dusit to anyone, especially families, who is looking to stay in the Baa atoll .

Dusit Thani was an absolute delight. My husband and I were there for our babymoon, and they couldn't have taken better care of us. Right from the grand seaplane drop, to the fantastic room with a view, and the lip smacking food, we were on a high the entire time. Ours was a water villa, which we never wanted to leave. We could reach the beach, or jump into the ocean to snorkel and see some beautiful fishes right by our feet, or lie in our private pool overlooking the ocean which was very relaxing and romantic. We also enjoyed little things like the Bose surround sound, free movies, separate cubicles and basins, the really lavish outdoor deck, after-sun gel, fresh fruits, the drinkware, and the layout of the room itself..divided in two segments for the wet and dry areas, very spacious, with plenty of natural light. The staff were extremely courteous and attentive, the buggy rides and butler system were quite convenient. The bfast buffet had everything possible, there was also a seafood restaurant, and a gorgeous Thai restaurant set right on the water under the stars. For families with children, I would think the kids club would be very helpful as well. I also enjoyed the dusit lounge at the airport. A special shout out to Carmen and GM John who personally visited us every single day to check on us, and the sweetest bartender Ahmed who helped us take some gorgeous sunset pictures. My husband really loved his snorkelling trip with the massive and rare manta rays arranged by their adept diving centre. For Maldives, it's probably quite reasonable and we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else whenever we do return. We were there 6 days, but we even surprised ourselves by still not wanting to leave the island by the end of it. Absolutely spectacular stay in a simply beautiful property surrounded by endless turquoise waters..miss it already!
