Reviews for Dusit Thani Maldives

Excellent Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 11 hours ago

Our second visit to Dusit Thani Maldives and it was fantastic. We visited in November 2025, previously visited in April 2024 and it was lovely to be at the resort again. The resort felt much quieter – in a good way – and it was reflected in all staff who had time to chat and interact with all guests. The island is stunning; clearly lots of continuous work goes into maintenance. As return guests we had some really lovely touches – bikes with our names instead of room numbers – and a warm reception from all staff. We stayed in a Beach Pool Villa again, which was really lovely, with great facilities, a comfy bed and tons of outside space with the pool and direct beach access. We could snorkel directly out of our room onto the reef and spent most mornings and afternoons doing just that! We snorkelled with reef sharks, turtles, eagle rays, loads of fish and had a small run in with dreaded titan trigger fish!! This was all on the house reef. We also did a trip with the dive centre to snorkel with manta rays - it was a fantastic experience, and the on call service made it so much easier. Highly recommend. Big thank you to all the staff, but special thanks to our butler Saleem who met all our needs of dinner reservations, pillow swaps and anything else we needed. Also a shout-out to Raveesha at Sea Grill, a wonderful hostess and such a fantastic reflection on all the work Dusit do. We were all inclusive and the value of the food and alcohol is absolutely worth it. Food was fantastic and didn't have a bad meal.

Dusit Thani is a larger Maldive gem with plenty to do and see !

My husband and I spent our 8th trip to the Maldives visiting 3 resorts over 3 weeks. Dusit was our 2nd resort on this split stay and the 18th we have stayed at. We left PHH at 12:30 Saturday and finally arrived in Dusit at 5:30 PM so it really took most of the day for traveling. The Dusit Thani lounge at the airport is very upscale, comfortable and beautifully decorated….with warm woods and island fabrics. It’s one of the nicer lounges to hang out in but we were happy to board the seaplane, of course the pilots were barefoot and as always it was an adventure getting to the resort. There is an Incredible amount of fish and the many tropical fish we all love were out in full force….. huge schools of moorish idols, Sweetlips, butterflyfish, and bohar snappers. Surgeonfish…. The clownfish, parrotfish, rock cod etc were also busy doing their thing on the reef. It’s good the large colorful parrot fish are a friendly bunch as those teeth are intimidating …..they are a constant presence pooping out the sand as they swim by unbothered. I’m not sure what it is about us and titan trigger fish but we saw quite a few on the Dusit reef unless it is just one fish that has taken a liking to us ! We saw several black tip , a couple were good size and 3 turtles. We had fair current leaving our over water villa most of the way swimming around the drop off until we left the 2nd jetty going clockwise and swam towards the residence where it was a stronger current all the way back to our villa which was 212. We had requested 202 but ended up further down the jetty but it was fine as 212 and the villa to the left have a bigger separation and it opens up the view a bit more than other rooms along the jetty . The smaller numbers closer to 202 are best though as the sunset is directly in front . We really love the room the white louvered doors, white interior mixed with the darker wood ceiling gives it a Floridian feel , it is quite a massive room, bathroom and deck and it feels fresh and modern with a similar ambiance to Amilla… The room also has a sofa to sit in and watch TV or take in the views. Really love the large deck with lounge chairs , table and chairs and a comfortable large round 2 person chair with pillows like to lay in. The infinity pool in the villas is medium size, larger than our first stop PHH… the resort infinity pool between the sand bar and sea grill is huge and nicely located for sunset photos. We had dinner at market the first night as well as every breakfast and it was good but not at the level of service or food as some of the other high end 5 star resorts. Honestly the island just does not have the overall attention to detail, or a strong luxury vibe and is a more corporate feel than a curated product although this is mostly felt at Market and in the restaurants. We were at Sea Grill the 2nd night in Dusit and enjoyed the meal after spending happy hour in the laid back sand bar ……drinks are $8.00 instead of $16.00 but like everywhere else in the Maldives it still adds up after plus plus……we enjoyed the sand bar and it is the place to hang out and catch the sunset ….. At the well located over the water Sea Grill we had seafood ceviche and chicken salad appetizers which were nice and tuna steak and sirloin agnus beef for main course which were both very good as well . My husband had a delicious cheesecake for dessert and I had my usual assortment of colorful sorbets….we loved the seating along the water and the waiter was super friendly . The island interior is really lush with mature vegetation and is so incredibly magical to ride bikes around in the evening which we did quite a bit. It is one of the prettiest islands at night we have been to. In the evening with the mood lighting and warm tropical breeze it is delightful to ride bikes in . The island is large without too much sandy beach except in front of the market restaurant and in front of the beach villas , it is soft but with limited beach front, we do think the lack of sea walls in the water or sand bags is admirable given so many islands have one or the other . They do have a very small amount of sea walls in select places but they are on the island itself and not out in the water so you barely notice them. There are a lot of activities at DT to keep one busy and I can see the appeal to both families and couples. The beauty and attraction of Dusit imo is under the water as it is an aquarium and also biking along the paths in the island interior. It is not a traditional “barefoot” island which are known for enjoying walks along the beach/around the island but it has a lot to offer and we loved our time there. . There is a cinema and manta Ray excursions, sunset cruises etc offered . The Back of house tour was interesting and a must do ! They also offer a chef garden tour.Nothing is wasted everything is recycled all leftover food goes in a compost machine , glass is recycled for building purposes , cans are separated and crushed into a block, plastics are compressed as well and recycled…300,000 liters a day of water is desalinated! It costs $1.20 per 1000 liters There are 300 or so staff on the island … I always find it amazing how little you actually see staff or even other guests except at meals in the Maldives. The island gets a very small amount from solar . Every 2 years they replace the thatched roofs….they have an engraving machine as well as a seamstress and a wood working shop , mechanical shop etc all self contained so these islands operate “like clockwork” ….it made us appreciate everything behind the scene! The whole island is filled with schools of fish and some nice steep walls we especially liked the area swimming clockwise out from overwater villa 212 to the 1st jetty. …. Massive amounts of fish can be seen both in the corals and into the deep blue drop off. We saw a few black tips, a 4 foot barracuda and those tropical fish ….. butterfly, moorish idol convict surgeonfish, tangs, beautiful schools of blue fuslier, clownfish, trevally, wrasse, rock cod angelfish, Picasso triggerfish, trumpetfish, and my favorite oriental sweet lips . Dusit is truly an underwater wonder and the reef is the islands strongpoint along with the gorgeous lush interior. We loved just hanging out on the deck in the afternoon after our swim , lounging in our large round cushioned chair, it also feels very private. They have a complimentary Chrystal bowls sound bath in the spa … it is supposed to relax and rejuvenate you as you lay on the floor for an hour ..….. We enjoyed kayaking and wanted to paddle board but they only had one paddle board Irfan at sea grill was a kind waiter , Jalaal was our amazing Butler majeed was a waiter with a smile ,Shifaaz did a great job cleaning! So many others! We highly recommend Dusit Thani for a most pleasant stay in the mesmerizing Maldives !

A Dream Come True at Dusit Thani Maldives

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Staying at Dusit Thani Maldives was nothing short of magical. It had always been my dream to visit the Maldives, and this resort made that dream more perfect than I could have ever imagined. To make it even more special, I got engaged there, a moment I will cherish forever. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every meal felt like a culinary experience, with fresh ingredients, incredible flavors, and a variety that kept every day exciting. Whether it was breakfast by the ocean or dinner under the stars, the dining at Dusit Thani truly exceeded all expectations. But what made the stay unforgettable was the staff. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. Every single person went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Their smiles, kindness, and professionalism added such a personal touch to our trip. Dusit Thani Maldives will always hold a special place in my heart. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting or better people to share such an important life moment with. Highly, highly recommended.
