We spent our vacation at the Dusit Thani Maldives in early April. Thanks to the hotel representative Emily ! Thanks to Emily's story about the hotel's offers for vacation, we chose this hotel. And the hotel exceeded our expectations! We would definitely return to this hotel on our next visit to the Maldives. Upon arrival in Male, we were met by a representative of Dusit Thani at the airport and we were taken to the Dusit Thani lounge in the seaplane terminal building, where there were snacks and drinks. The seaplane flight took 35 minutes. It was worth it because the views from the plane were fantastic. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we felt like we were in paradise, we were looked after by our butler Yasir. He fulfilled all our wishes, booked restorants, answered immediately all the questions we had during the vacation. We lived in the ovewater villa, it is spacious, fresh and cleaning was twice a day, water and coffee were replenished twice a day. Everyone here has their own bicycle to move around the island. Our villa had its own pool and entrance by stairs directly into the ocean in a coral reef. We snorkeled several times a day. There were corals and beautiful fish everywhere. We could even watch the fish from our deck. My friend had a birthday during his vacation and the hotel had prepared a surprise - he had a cake with a candle and a congratulation. It was very cute. We also enjoyed Devarana SPA. I felt like I was in Thailand. The restaurants in the hotel are of a very high standard. We liked Thai Benjarong and Sea grill the best. The food was fresh and tasty. I really liked the fresh salads, where some of the vegetables are grown right there on the island in the garden. The food and service were top notch. The Sunset bar has comfortable sofas, where we watched the sunsets and the stars. We felt privacy everywhere. And met others only in restaurants or bars. Rest in the hotel is made unforgettable by the hotel staff. Everyone smiles and greets when meeting. Fantastic people in the restaurants and bar. A special thanks from us to Yasir and Emily.

Went to Dusit the last week of March for our 30th anniversary. The experience is nice. The following are the Pros: Resort setting in an individual island reached by seaplane. The beaches, the crystal clear water are expectedly good. We stayed at two type of resorts: the beach and over the water. Both allow you to enjoy the luxurious lifestyle of Maldives have to offer. Facilities inside both resorts are good. The beds are comfortable. Going to swim in the morning at your over the water resort have to be careful as it might be rocky in some part but it’s ok after 10 am or sth. Have to mentioned our Butler Muhei, very attentive in details. He booked restaurants and accommodate to our ever-changing plan :) They have 3 Restaurants. We like the Sea Gills which offer western style food. The food was excellent I wld say, you wld not be disappointed even with dinning bread. Rabeeu, an attentive waiter offer us extra information on fishing tuna ;) breakfast was included in the hotel package, and it was excellent. They have lots of choices and they are yummy. Shihad and Rohah are both from The Market breakfast staffs, their services make our breakfast time enjoyable. The Cons: our departure need to wait for the seaplane to fly back and the waiting area though spacious with facilities, it’s has tons and tons of sand fleas to feast on us. Guess it was a covered area and the sun can’t shine thru and so sand fleas is happy to live there and feast on people, especially those who are attracted to mosquitoes and sand fleas. I have over 20 sth bites from them and it takes weeks to heal :(

Our wonderful experience started once we landed in Male and was met by a friendly Dusit member who whisked us away to a wonderful airport lounge where we waited to board the seaplane. Dusit Thani Maldives is a truly paradise on earth it has the best reef we have ever seen. The island is just mind blowingly beautiful. My husband and I and both our boys 11&9 loved getting around the island on our bicycles we snorkeled twice a day and saw so much marine life it was like being in a fish tank. The infinity pool was so big so lovely the boys used to love it there after snorkeling in the sea. The hotel never felt crowded. What makes this island one of the most memorable holiday is your amazing friendly kind staff. We were always greeted by smiles by every single staff member we passed. The food at all the restaurants was absolutely delicious fresh fish cooked to perfection! They had a huge vegetarian menu at all the restaurants which was equally delicious. We would like to mention Slyp at the sea grill he was truly amazing a credit to Dusit Thani, he looked after us every day! And served us with a smile. Rabeeu at the sea grill was also absolutely lovely and would always come and say hello to us. Prabath at the sand bar and his twin were so friendly. Prabath would bring us our delicious cocktails and ice creams and knew exactly what we wanted! Our Butler Yasir was amazing he showed us around the island and answered all our questions. He booked all our restaurants and any questions we asked he was there to answer. What was very sweet is that he would come and find us around the island to see how we were. Slyp, Rabeeu, Prabath and Yasir truly made our stay that extra bit special we were really treated like royalty and we will never forget this holiday. Our room 103 was large and spacious was spotlessly clean. The boys loved the pool in the room. Our room backed out onto a wonderful stretch of soft white powdery sand. We have previously stayed at the four seasons kuda hura Maldives and we can safely say that when we return back to the Maldives we will stay at the Dusit Thani again. I highly recommend Dusit Thani we definitely will be returning.

TLDR; Excellent food and drinks, great butler service, beautiful island. However there are many better options we have stayed at in the Maldives at this price point, very bad scuba diving, overall an underwhelming experience. Pros: - All of the food and drinks were excellent - Butler service was excellent - Island is large, beautiful, and well maintained, and having bicycles made it all easily accessible - All waiters were very friendly, and they make a point to have the same waiter serve you each meal which is great - Snorkelling is great with a huge variety of fish life - Room service was very good Cons: - Diving was the most underwhelming I've ever done. The staff were the most uninterested, inexperienced, and least passionate I've ever experienced - it seemed like diving for them was a chore, everything felt like an uphill battle. All dives are limited to an absolute maximum of 45 minutes (inc. safety stop). Guides have almost zero interest in trying to spot anything (e.g. our guide swam past an adult nurse shark). They refuse to tell you the dive sites before you're on the boat, so you don't know which lens to bring (macro or wide angle). All of the dive sites (we did 8 different sites) were incredibly underwhelming - the guide starting pointing out lionfish to us as there was nothing else to see all dive. - They claim to have a resident marine biologist which is not true. - The noise from seaplanes (between ~6am-5pm) and boats were incredibly noisy and disruptive for all rooms between 601-621 (Water Villa w/ Pools). Do not stay in these rooms. - There seemed to be a lot of issues with red ants in many rooms, and some rooms were leaking. These issues weren't fixed during the stay. - There are only 2 restaurants (and 1 buffet restaurant), and the 2 restaurants were fully booked for most of our stay. - Drinks service was very slow - often waiting 10-15 mins for a beer. - Additional activity prices are absolutely extortionate - $153 USD (inc. tax) for 1 hour night snorkelling on the house reef, $96 USD to rent a kayak for 1 hour (this is free at most resorts), $19 USD to pump up any inflatable for you (per inflatable), $204 USD for 2 people to play 1 hour of tennis
