This is THE place to stay in Mumbai. You are right on Marine Drive and facing the beautiful Arabian Sea. You don’t feel the thriving, teeming city behind you… though a lot of its residents come and congregate on the promenade right below you on the waterfront every balmy night. Since our last visit to Mumbai 10 years ago, they’ve tidied up Marine Drive even more and it’s a safe, relaxing location to enjoy the beautiful ocean air. Last time we stayed at the Oberoi’s sister hotel the Trident next door… this is better. (Though the Trident has the better pool… you can use either). The Oberoi is not as tall so even the highest floors are well below those of the Trident… but this is a 5 star hotel and Trident is a 4 star. There is a difference. The Oberoi has a massive 1970s Hyatt Regency-style full hotel height atrium that the rooms surround… we opted for a suite and ended up with one on a lower floor than we would have liked… but it all worked out. A lot of rooms have half-ocean views or city views (avoid those). Definitely opt for the full ocean/sea view if it's in your budget. It will make or (slightly) break your stay. If I could only get a city view, I might entertain another hotel We chose this hotel for its location on Nariman Point… it’s the best location for tourists as everything you want to see is a pretty short walk away. And what's nice is you feel safe walking anywhere (which was not the case in New Delhi). The Oberoi is not quite as modern or maybe as luxe as other 5-star hotels in town but those are not the best sited, trust me. I love Mumbai and Marine Drive is the best part of it. The Taj would have been our second choice and that is a classic hotel but it really is full of tourists (including us) and the views vary wildly. This was better. The almost floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows made our hotel suite spectacular. There is just nothing like it any city I’ve visited. That said, the decor could use a mild refresh but it’s all in very good shape so no complaints. The staff is so warm and friendly… I tried to get more names but I seem to have to have failed for the most part. I will say Kajal at breakfast and Durva at checkout were standouts but again, I had many nice experiences with all the staff. The breakfast buffet in the spacious lobby was always good as was room service every night (if you have a view like ours, you really don’t want to leave it for long). All in all, an excellent and very memorable stay. I highly recommend the Oberoi for a unique, big city in India experience. There is nothing like it.

Our stay at The Oberoi was truly exceptional, defined by a level of hospitality that felt both professional and deeply personal. We were particularly impressed by Miss Nilima and Duty Manager Noor, whose dedication really stood out. Miss Nilima’s incredible attention to detail and the thoughtful, personal touches she arranged in our room made us feel incredibly valued.

We were excited for our second stay here & we were not disappointed. Everything was organised smoothly from the car to our early check-in. Nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed Ziya where we had the delicious tasting menu. And we of course loved the Eau bar views. We have fallen in love with Mumbai and the Oberoi will be our place to stay whenever we visit.

Great hotel with excellent facilities, especially seen the connection with Trident. Great service as always in Oberoi. Good connection with the airport as well now that the new coastal road and tunnel is operational.
