Reviews for The Oberoi, Mumbai

Sublime

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 hours ago

City hotels are not easy to get right - often a lack of any sort of view, no gardens and so on, but overall, The Oberoi was just a dream for us. Arriving quite early from London, our room was ready. This trip was the start of a series of holidays for a “big” birthday milestone for my wife. The hotel knew this and kind decked the room out in balloons, a Happy Birthday sign on the window and a (delicious) cake. A fabulous start. We ate in the Indian restaurant - pricey as everyone says but wonderful food. A message from the manager Mr Amit Kaul was sent to me to check that everything was ok. I replied saying that in short order, his staff had been nothing but charming, helpful and delightful - all of them. I added - as a joke - that the room was a little small and that next time I should spend a bit more money on a larger room. Well, the next morning, a lovely lady, Neha, came to us at breakfast and suggested we move rooms at no cost to a “more comfortable” room. A suite no less. What an incredible thing to happen. The difference was day and night. A separate sitting room - useful as I had a small amount of work to do early in the morning whilst Mrs snoozed - and a much larger bathroom with twin basins. A view over the bay is a plus although the view is a bit hazy! We spent time at the pool - preferring the Trident pool. Breakfasts were superb - a great way to start the day. The transfers to and from the airport were arranged by the hotel - Merc E class, so very comfy. All in all, I have nothing but praise for this incredible hotel. The Oberoi philosophy on hospitality is World renown and to experience it is simply a pleasure.

I would like to call out my Excellent spa experience, from the moment I arrived Prativa and her team made me feel very welcome and comfortable. My masseuse Shon gave an excellent Swedish massage and left me very refreshed and relaxed! Overall a great experience and look forward to my next return!

Expensive, but worth it.

From the moment you step out of the car you are treated like royalty. The staff are impeccably dressed, and can’t do enough to help you. We stayed in a luxury room, which is the lowest level, and it was spacious and had a great bed and shower. The breakfasts are fantastic, the gym is really well equipped, though it’s missing a cable machine. We eat in Ziya, which was very special, but overpriced. My only quibbles are that there is little storage in the room and it’s a bit cramped in the bathroom for two people, and it is really noisy and windy by the pool. Stay here to ease you into the chaos of Mumbai, you won’t regret it, this is proper 5 star luxury.

Nice hotel

This is a nice hotel. It is a little dated, with the atrium lobby rising 10+ stories. However, the rooms are nice and the restaurants are good. There are no USB charging ports in the room.

A Jewel to accompany the Queen's necklace.

The Mumbai property was the beginning of an Odyssey with the Oberoi Brand. It was the perfect gateway to India. The property, on the bay, is impressive, close to museums and art galleries. The staff were exemplorary and the transfers to and from the airport seemless. The F & B, particularly the Living Room, a lovely twist exuding the atmosphere of India in a super sophisticated, efficient and relaxed way. The food was cosmopolitan but the atmosphere lively and excitable. My Swedish massage a winner. My room with a view over the bay was exquisitely set out and rigorously maintained. On arrival I slept for thirteen hours so I was clearly relaxed! Visit two a must. Thank you to everyone for the Oberoi embrace.
